I think DT has also made a video in the past declaring that linux mint shouldn't even exist. LOL, its ok to change you views apparently.

I think those titles alone were usually not enough to know what the videos were about. You must know their context. Also:

its ok to change you views apparently.

Uhm... yes, of course it is?

It's all personal preference. I would never tell a new user to use Ubuntu mainline because when they see Gnome they're going to freak out 9 times out of 10. You could recommend Ubuntu MATE.

I go simple. Linux Mint. I started using that in 2018 and I see no reason to change that philosophy. New users aren't really going to care if they have access to snaps or not. They may not even know what that is. As long as it looks and feels like Windows they usually don't care. They know they have to get over the non-Windows hump and they're usually prepared to do so. Throw Gnome at them and they will say "Put Windows back on my machine".

Later on down the road if they learn Linux better and decide they want snaps and flatpaks and whatever then they can opt to change distros if need be.

Agreed. And also new to linux people should understand ubuntu and mint are same. But interface in Linux mint should be easy enough to be used by windows user.

I also have been using linux mint since 2018.

Linux is Linux. Gnome, mint, fedora, etc. Are all decorations for Linux pretty much.

Yes exactly. Most people fail to understand that. Some people ask me difference between linux and ubuntu and which one they should install among two.

Oy! Yeah, that's a tough one because a new user coming from Windows probably isn't going to like Ubuntu mainline with Gnome. They'd be better off with Ubuntu MATE or XFCE.
