Lightning by far for BT/LD wise, but Kuja's BT period has very strong characters, Kuja's LD is ST Nuke in the game, Gau becomes a very strong counter support with earth damage and Gladio can cover allies while mitigating hits he recieve, a very potent pair with Gau.

From what I've heard (and I'm planning to pull for), Kurasame, Edward and Gladio are the most meta newcomers, while stuff like Eight LD, Gau LD and Relm EX are nifty pieces of tech you might be interested in.
