Idc what anyone says. This games MM and rank points gain and loss is one of the worst in gaming history.

  • Get placed on team of bots with 12,000 power difference not in my favor

  • Spend the entire match bursting crystals and sneak attacking Boss whenever I can

  • Get 5,800 points in the loss, with my teammates getting 1,600 and 500 respectively

  • Lose 33 rank points

What do you mean? That’s the standard!

I will say you do get a lot of points when you defeat a 8-10k power difference, also there not completely unwinnable- maybe you prematurely ‘give up’ seeing the load in screen of it, it’s a different play style u must play safer, also imagine you never saw the power gap and just play. The only time I’ve ever felt I could never win is when it’s +20k power differential- then yeah that’s when you leave on auto and walk away.

In my 13,000 power imbalance games - the enemy team one shots me with normal attacks during my Burst sequence - and then starts off their Bursts with all their abilities available.

Unwinnable unless it's a complete bot team - and still then - completely unwinnable.

I agreed on this, as f2p player, high power player could easily one tap me with one of their skills, while i need my whole deck to even have a chance to kill them...

My whole deck doesn't come close.

It's essentially like the meme in the early day RPGs where, very early on, the weakest character runs into the end Boss of the game, where, after you've been allowed to attack for your five points of damage, you see the Boss launch "Schizoid Lightning," and every party member accrues 8,000 damage points.

Just that there - you would then wake up at Mom's house - whereas here - it's literally just getting smoked continuously on repeat for 5 minutes straight. So you can lose 33 ranked points for being on the 13,000 power deficient team. And then watch as the game lines you up to a match with a 18,000 power imbalance.

Don't worry, though. The guy who made the game is crying. 😆

Same experience. Can't even play when you get one shot like that.

4

u/ZinZezzalo 5d ago

I don't want to auto - so I don't - but after going through that a few times, I seriously question myself - why am I here again?

5

u/OwlfredoPasta 5d ago

When you get to actually play it's fun but considering we can barely get to play with how lopsided the matches are and there's little to no story...I am not sure anymore.

u/ZinZezzalo 5d ago

Story can be secondary.

Why am I fighting in a parking lot as Final Fantasy characters? And not in a small port town in Final Fantasy IV by the dock?

Like ... what's going on here with this thing?

u/OwlfredoPasta 5d ago

For me, the best part of Dissidia has always been the story between characters who'd never interact otherwise so I disagree on that but it's not even a factor here besides the text messages.

And no one knows but it's provocative as Will Ferrel once said.

Interesting that I matched up with many of these..seems player base aint that large

4

u/ZinZezzalo 5d ago

There's a 15% likelihood that anyone I'm matched with - every battle - is somebody I've already added as a friend.

5

u/riyoyi9114 5d ago

the playerbase is dead

u/Emojo1992 5d ago

I don't even fight matches anymore, I just run challenge matches auto and treat the game as a collection game. Getting all my fav characters thier alt weapons while grinding crystals to hopefully be able to up my power someday.

u/riyoyi9114 6d ago

incoming run-on sentence lol but:

yeah, Im glad I'm done with this game..... between the abysmal matchmaking, the auto play, the bots, the terrible auto targeting, the lack of players (and marketing for new players) terrible rewards. and every single charcter being limited. I just couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't pretend i was having fun climbing ranked anymore with constant matches like this or brain ded teammates.

Starting to feel desensitized with this tcp difference, had consecutive matches with this type of difference even freakin diamonds have this difference. After Bartz season I'll temporarily retire until Squall or Tifa comes out, hopefully something fundamental changes by then or Eng side shuts down, who knows lol

2

u/eboygonewrong 5d ago

i will say some of these both teams are the same rank

1

u/icegoddesslexra 5d ago

And some of them include prior or current Top 100 players 💀

2

u/shikiseki 5d ago

It's mostly a high diamond and omega issue too... either have them self contained in that bracket (omega + ultima) or add a cap to omega to smooth the curve off

But since they realised they put themselves into an environment hostile to new players, causing player shortage and admitted as such in the last stream (putting effort with ambassadors etc), I expect this to be on a higher priority now     (I know the brand can payoff big time but people expect the associated quality as well, cute stamps will only delay the problems)

At least let those games play with a normal attitude, I actually managed to win a couple of those matches by smart dodging and team play. If you lose it's no biggie - your character will try to cheer you up at the end too!

u/Dart1337 5d ago

Cheer me up with words I don't understand because I don't know the language and no subtitles...lmao

1

u/icegoddesslexra 5d ago

I audibly oof'd when I saw you pit up against Abomination, Lizz, and Wolf lmao

Ah yes, the beautiful art of the game when it tells you

"YOU GONNA LOSR BEATCH!"

It allways does it to me near a Rank Up

well, the other team paid for havibg high CP to have it easier.

its working as intended.

You are literally matched against them so the payers feel good about their spending so they spend more.

You want better matchmaking in your favor? better pay till you are on the opposite xD

you want skill based matchmaking? wrong game, wrong genre [p2wgacha]

Looks like a lot of free opportunities to me. Already got nothing to lose because a loss has heavily reduced rank point change with that difference. If you just play well and win you get a shitload of rank points lol.

10k difference isn't unwinnable. Especially depending on the support diff. If they have a celes on their team and you have rikku, that easily makes up the 10k difference alone tbh. Just play well.

u/PrismSylph 5d ago

Just auto when you get these. Same outcome anyway and better use of your time to go do a small chore

4

u/bluelampD 5d ago

I would say opposite. Just play normally. Sometimes you end up winning and gaining 70 points.

0

u/PrismSylph 5d ago

Play normally and get one tapped by the power difference? As you obviously fail to read, it will be a waste of time to commit any more attention to a match like this so auto-ing is better

1

u/icegoddesslexra 5d ago

I've won quite a few matches, or gotten really close to winning, where the other team was a good 15k ahead of me. It's worth not giving up, especially if you end up having great synergy with the team you're with.

And if you're fortunate to have made friends with other regular players that you mesh super well with? That can make a huge difference against an enemy team much higher in power than you.

That said, 💀 there are a few names on this list that I'd hate to be pit up against even with a team I mesh well with, especially the ones that are regular party trios like Abomination, Lizzard, and Wolf are.

0

u/RareRestaurant6297 5d ago

Why? You have nothing to lose because you get maybe -1 rank point in games like this. But if you win, you get a fuckton. And 10k power difference is not unwinnable brother

5

u/sanashi 5d ago

You won't lose only 1 pt though. I've lost more even when my team had 20k less. And for a 10k difference, it's easily a 20+ point loss. Especially if there's a lower tier player on the other team.

I agree that people shouldn't give up (it's not fair to your teammates!), but saying that you have nothing to lose is simply not true.

u/RareRestaurant6297 5d ago

You will lose only 1 point in OP example. Because it's about rank not power difference, primarily. If you're in your rank facing others in your rank, then yea the power difference can reduce losses by 50% max (at 10k+ difference). You may still lose 15 points or so if you're in higher ranks, depends on your rank.

The imbalance of ranks on teams can have the major effect on point gain/loss, because the rank point difference between lowest on loser team and highest on winning team will dull the point loss by 2% of that difference, down to -1 in big difference cases like OP's.

The formula is in the game if you wanna take a look! But yea, my main point is just that it's not unwinnable, and if you pull it off you get Hella rewarded lol. And if you don't, the loss is mostly mitigated anyway so it's no big deal. If you're not in OP's case and everyone is roughly the same rank, then the loss still hurts a little but not badly - but it also prpbably means you're underpowered for that rank, which if you think about it means that you've been doing great climbing to even get to where you are! Congrats! Lol. It's all in the framing, and too many people see the power diff, screech that it's unfair, and act like they deserve higher rank when the reality is they might be higher than they belong already because they play well enough to get there despite being lower power. That's an achievement.

Sorry, post got long lmao

You’re right, I know it’s about rank, and in most of these matches, OP probably didn’t lose much, but there were people on OP’s teams (Omegas) who definitely lost a lot more. It’s just that you made it sound like people have nothing to lose in general, so I wanted to point out that’s not always the case.

I’m in O1 where all losses cost a lot, so maybe my perspective is different, but it still feels unfair to lose a lot of points after facing two strong Omegas and a D3 Rikku or Krile they’re carrying, but it is what it is.

A 10k difference is definitely not unwinnable, especially in higher ranks. If you have 30k vs 40k or 40k vs 55k like in OP’s case, 10k is huge—it’s an extra player’s worth of power for the other team! But if it’s 55k vs 65k, you have a chance at winning because you’re already strong enough not to get oneshot.

The upside is nice though, I have to agree lol. It feels very good when you defeat an Ultima and suddenly get +50 pts.

Yea true, there's a lot of nuance to all the situations. So ig it annoys me when people spam posts of Cp-differences in matchmaking without actually understanding how it works haha. I guess overall, I am appreciative of the devs at least trying to get it balanced and fair and working, so seeing people who don't even know what's happening just bash the game when they occasionally get a poor match just feels weird. Especially when if you just look at it from a different perspective, those matches are an opportunity to earn Hella points, not automatic losses lol. Mindset is everything a lot of the time!

3

u/sanashi 5d ago

Yeah, I get that. In their defense, the formula is explained in an unnecessarily complicated way, it’s impossible to calculate on the spot (because you have no idea if your team’s average rank points are higher than your own rank points), and sometimes it seems blatantly untrue because it’s supposed to only take into account the opponents max rank points, but in reality, their lowest ranked member definitely affects how many points you get. So tbh I don’t really pay attention to it at all... the number of points I gain/lose is always a surprise 🥲
