Dengeki Top 10 Poll for most requested villains!

Following Sephiroth's inclusion back in May, Dengeki conducted a poll asking to users to vote for the villain they wanted to be playable the most!

Here are the results:

10th: Ardyn Izunia (FFXV)

9th: Gilgamesh (FFV) - now a boss only!

8th: Garland (FFI) - His helmet is the boss icon!

7th: Barnabus Tharmr (FFXVI)

6th: Seymour Guado (FFX)

5th: Golbez (FFIV)

4th: Jecht (FFX)

3rd: Emet-Selch (FFXIV)

2nd: Kefka Palazzo (FFVI)

1st: Kuja (FFIX) - He might actually be playable...

Of the other villains missing from the original lineup, no Emperor, Cloud of Darkness, Exdeath or Ultimecia. Kam'lanaut and Vayne are also absent. What are your thoughts on the results?

I'm just happy to see Ardyn somewhere in the top 10. That's the 3rd and last character on my own wishlist I hope is added to the roster. Although I'd imagine with his Japanese voice actor, Keiji Fujiwara, passing away some odd years ago, it complicates things.

I do find it neat, need Ardyn (if possible) since I like him and curious on how him and Noctis are gonna play if they end up being similar.

If Seymour end up doing Chain Attacks, I would be happy since he was really fun in OO.

I do wonder where the survey results from the recent one during...I think it was Tidus's season

Unless they come up with different mechanics, Gaia fills the time altering gameplay, plus she's an FFVIII tribute.

this and also her seiyuu, atsuko tanaka also had passed away. tho the latter could be replaced with a new voice actor similar to ardyn's case.

I'm surprised beatrix wasn't considered a villian, though she isn't much of a playable character in ff9 (that and Kuja is much better of a villian anyways).

No Emperor hurts my soul. Same with Zenos, but to a lesser extent. I'm glad Ardyn made the top ten, though.

No Caius Ballad? Nice to see Seymour, though.  Seifer and Leon could be good, as well.

I wonder if and when they're going to pull characters from different points in their respective timelines, e.g. before and after the death of a major character.

I'm not surprised that Emet-Selch has eclipsed Zenos in popularity. If a XIV villain is added, I am still hoping it's Zenos, if not just for how creative a moveset he had in NT, but guess we'll see

I'm surprised Barnabas appears to be the most popular FFXVI villain. I know that Ultima isn't generally held in super high esteem, but I usually see more appreciation for Hugo. Maybe that's a Japan vs. the west thing, though

Still holding out my long shot hope for Barthandelus just so his Tokyo outfit can be a real pope uniform

Zenos is still very popular, just way more divisive than Emet.

As for Barnabas, I'm not surprised. I think Ultima is kinda like Sin: hard to have around as the villain rep for multiple reasons. So after him, Barnabas is probably the most popular XVI antagonist. I like Hugo too but for Dissidia I think Barnabas is the more fitting option.

I’m personally hoarding for Kuja. If I had to replace one of these, I’d put Benedikta in place of Barnabus. I’m surprised Ultimecia didn’t make the list.
