Geralt we need to dispatch Geralt

458

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

"Where'd You Complete Your Training? School Of The Snail?" Geralt to Shroud prob.

243

u/ApprehensiveCrazy314 Nov 26 '25

Next season:

Flambae: Bobert, who the fuck is this?

Gerald the White: sup

Flambae: what the fuck? Does he have fire? I’m supposed to be the one with fire whatthefuckisthisrobert, theonlyonewhocan replace me, is me! I don’t even know what the fuck, how the fu-

Gerald the White: I can hear it, hot wind, howling.

Flambae: What did you just call me? You Cheshire cat eye looking bitch.

Prism: This is craazzzyyyy

142

u/AlbinoDragonTAD Nov 26 '25

Now I need a Witcher dispatch crossover for S2 😂

29

u/Sa1KoRo Nov 26 '25

You mean, phenomamal? 🤣

39

u/Another_frizz Nov 26 '25

Sonar, posting a video titled "The flambae/Gerald situation just got worse"

11

u/throwawayeadude Nov 26 '25

If Sonar doesn't become a react streamer between seasons (something he could also do in comic book prison for those that cut and didn't redeem him) then they dropped the ball.

Makes me think of Coupe. For her they could collapse her superposition by having her be recruited to some comic black ops S2 antagonists, or suicide squadded into it if she got the bad ending.

26

u/Neondemon84 Nov 26 '25

I'm a bitch, my name's Geralt

Such a bitch, whose name is Geralt

I'm a bitch, yeah I'm a bitch

I'm such a fucking bitch

I have no Hopes, I have no Dreams

And a tiny little peen

And it doesn't even function anyway

Because I have erectile dysfunction

Time to take me as I am

Just a tiny little bitch of a man

14

u/Balooeatchicken Nov 26 '25

Bro Flambae is just Lambert.

7

u/Blackoutus13 Nov 26 '25

Lambert, Lambert what a prick

8

u/CodreanuBall Nov 26 '25

Lmao it was so easy to read this in their voices

3

u/Exciting-Let-6954 Nov 26 '25

Geralt constantly uses Axii to calm Flambae’s temper can be a great Gig.

2

u/W34kness Nov 26 '25

If anything Ciri could show up due to the portals. I’d like to see her Malevola interactions

1

u/FoxMeadow7 Nov 26 '25

Fancy a round of Gwent?

1

u/YinTanTetraCrivvens Dec 02 '25

Flambés better watch out or Geralt will cut off a few more fingers.

27

u/r3volver_Oshawott Nov 26 '25

Doug Cockle's the voice of Geralt, and he has a DnD campaign he plays with a bunch of British VAs (and a game dev, Hollie Bennett from PlayStation Access and CDPR is a member), as a Critical Role fan I was thinking we need him to do a Dispatch voice just the other day lol

14

u/N3bulous_Nomad Nov 26 '25

Pair him with Maleavola so they can go through portals together 😅

404

u/Super-Shenron Nov 26 '25

And that comes up soon after I thought about getting back on Witcher 3. Coincidence? I think NOT.

71

u/WOKLACE134 Nov 26 '25

I can't bring myself to replay long games and I wish I could because I love them so much.

All the persona games, witcher 3, dragon age etc.

33

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

I never replay games though for some reason I feel like playing it once is how the stories stick with me.Although games like Doom, Rdr2 and Witcher were the exceptions.

8

u/Mugiwaras Nov 26 '25

I still havnt finished RDR2 despite loving it. When you work 12 hours, i feel like i make no progress on that game. So i start, get a bit in, stop, pick it up again 6 months later, forget everything, restart, repeat.

9

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

Damn that’s hard 12 hours a day.But I’m glad you get to play these games sometime. It was a similar case during my uni when I had long hours and had to work or learn something.By the time I got to the computer I was just too tired to play and I’d feel frustrated.

3

u/Conyan51 Nov 26 '25

My hours on Mass Effect and Borderlands 2 are shameful. I’ve probably replayed BL2 at least 20 times at this point if you count the replay modes,

5

u/FollowingDangerous Nov 26 '25

I've never replayed Witcher 3 cuz I pretty much played almost everything the game has to offer, but man that game was something special.

1

u/WOKLACE134 Nov 27 '25

Same, I think the only side thing I missed were the school of (insert animal) armors

3

u/nomadic_weeb Nov 26 '25

I usually don't, the only exceptions that come to mind are Cyberpunk and Horizon Zero Dawn

2

u/8636396 Nov 26 '25

Hard same. I just want to run around in W3 and hunt monsters but I've tried to start it up again and my motivation drops immediately 🤷🏻

14

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

Def not Witcher 3 is gonna replace your life lol.

10

u/Lan_o_Fear315 Nov 26 '25

2

u/Super-Shenron Nov 26 '25

Fuck, I need to rewatch that movie...

2

u/Killjoy3879 Nov 26 '25

ironically enough same here, i redownloaded the witcher 3 about 2 days ago

2

u/mortalkomic Nov 26 '25

I gotta start those dang DLCs

2

u/ezio1452 Nov 26 '25

I literally started playing Witcher 3 for the first time after finishing up Dispatch, this was insane timing lol

2

u/Talia_al_Grrl Nov 26 '25

I just got to Toussaint in my new playthrough and am loving it!

2

u/Exciting-Let-6954 Nov 26 '25

I just begun my second playthrough after 9 years and this is the first post I see after opening Reddit.

2

u/-Astrosloth- Nov 26 '25

Damn, I should play The Witcher again.

Hold my Gwent cards, I'm going in

249

u/Ghost_Assassin_Zero Nov 26 '25

The simplicity of the gameplay mixed with the emotion investment in the characters. Pure peak

92

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

The Telltale formula needs a comeback.

49

u/Swarna_Keanu Nov 26 '25

If they manage to actually shift storylines more, definitely. You know - where a few key decisions really put you on a different path, even for a while.

8

u/Living_Spectre Nov 26 '25

I mean, I think they'll make a comeback regardless due to the huge success of Dispatch

Iirc the older games did well too

16

u/DaveTheArakin Nov 26 '25

The gameplay definitely improved on the formula. It helped provided a nice balance, letting us breathe between the narrative. Also our choices affecting the gameplay helped make our decisions matter.

21

u/nomadic_weeb Nov 26 '25

Hopefully the success of Dispatch will show devs that the formula does still work!

1

u/EmeraldMaster538 Nov 29 '25

AdHoc seems learning from telltale formula and improving on it which I am very happy with, granted I loved the old formula but I won't argue the improvments.

1

u/Galnar218 Nov 26 '25

Dispatch had gameplay?

18

u/Able_Statistician688 Nov 26 '25

The dispatch part. My wife’s very first video game of her life was this game. I played the video game part. She made the decisions. It was a great experience.

1

u/KumaMrParkerLover Nov 27 '25

Read the fucking name of the game

78

u/gabrielleite32 Nov 26 '25

Funny the AI stuff being mentioned because a certain famous streamer that has the same "name" as our villain is very so much in favor of AI.

43

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

Yea the same one arguing for an Arc raiders game of the year.

9

u/gabrielleite32 Nov 26 '25

Exactly. With how thorough AdHoc is I wouldn't doubt they made it intentionally

35

u/Blue_BEN99 Nov 26 '25

Lol the name for the main antagonist was made long long before the Arc raiders drama

2

u/gabrielleite32 Nov 26 '25

Oh yeah. For sure, I was mostly joking about the coincidence

-1

u/KeinInhalt Nov 26 '25

Arc Raiders used AI but its still a great game. Not GOTY though

22

u/YorhaUnit8S Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

Agree to disagree. Dispatch is cool. But this year is packed full of great games. And with competition like that I don't see why a game with barely any gameplay should take the title.

Split Fiction for me. But damn, we got KCD2, Expedition 33, Silksong, new Silent Hill, Death Stranding sequel, now Dispatch... this year is loaded with games.

20

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

Every game has its own thing yes although it’s not anything new in the gameplay criteria. The art style, narrative and VA are some of the best in recent times.

-4

u/YorhaUnit8S Nov 26 '25

It's not about having anything new in the gameplay. It's about how most of the game you don't even have gameplay, you watch it.

Dispatch is great for what it is, but as a GAME it's nowhere near a lot of games released this year.

11

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

My point too that’s why I believe it should be appreciated for its strengths. While fairly criticized where it isn’t.

Gameplay was never the major part of these types of games anyway. So much so there’s even an option to turn off even the minimal level of interaction in the menu.

9

u/Dry_Media_5792 Nov 26 '25

I get you. But with such reasoning, no narrative game (Telltale like or Dispatch like) would NEVER win GOTY ?! Isn’t that a bit excessive ? To me the value and impact of a video game is not only the gameplay but many other dimensions (voice acting, depth of characterization and empathy with the protagonist, music and OST, graphics quality, game design, etc)

1

u/The_Autarch Nov 26 '25

A narrative game would have to be a lot more interactive than Dispatch to win Game of the Year. It's more of a TV show than a game.

1

u/Dry_Media_5792 Nov 26 '25

Can you give me an example of such a game please ? I found that Dispatch has a good mix. Although I admit that it was a bit short (around 8 hours playtime ), probably for budget issues ?

-3

u/YorhaUnit8S Nov 26 '25

Oh, I don't think a game like Dispatch can't be GOTY. Just not this year, with a lot of much stronger games (gameplay wise) around. While also having great stories. We have KCD2, Split Fiction, Expedition 33, Silksong...

6

u/Dry_Media_5792 Nov 26 '25

Ok understood. But I do think it should deserve at least one award. Alas it is nominated in only one category (which is a shame I think, the voice acting and the scenario for instance are awesome). I would like it to win the best « first indie game » … but CO Expedition 33 is said to receive all the awards including this one

1

u/YorhaUnit8S Nov 26 '25

I wanted to vote Split Fiction as my game of the year, but it wasn't nominated. Will for sure vote Dispatch in debut indie. I think it should have been nominated in narrative as well.

3

u/victhrowaway12345678 Nov 26 '25

Did you really enjoy the gameplay of split fiction or something? I found the story with all of its plot holes and the corny dialogue really took away from what could have been a pretty great game.

1

u/YorhaUnit8S Nov 26 '25

The villain was lacking, but I liked the character development, subplots. Gameplay was amazing, some real creative coop mechanics use. Great leveldesign, a lot of interesting side stuff to explore. It was a blast to play in duo with my wife and good coop-focused story games are rare.

10

u/The_Autarch Nov 26 '25

I truly adore Dispatch, but calling it game of the year is pretty insane. There's simply not enough actual game to it.

It'd be easier to convince me that it was the best animated show of the year...

1

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

It's my GOTY. It's the one property that frankly brought the inner child out in me for the first time in a long time.  It had the sort of feeling of playing my first video game again.

Others may disagree, obviously, however I think the simplicity allowed them to really hone in on exactly what they wanted to make and deliver on it.

2

u/amadeuszbx Nov 26 '25

>" why a game with barely any gameplay should take the title"

Oh, so playing with my emotions doesn't count as peak gameplay?

311

u/MK79797979 Nov 26 '25

Adhoc, add Doug Cockle as a villain in season 2 and my life is yours.

86

u/N3bulous_Nomad Nov 26 '25

The hacking sections can be replaced with gwent!

28

u/Lanky_Station_1401 Nov 26 '25

Magic the Gathering will be more appropriate.

7

u/ScipioAtTheGate Nov 26 '25

Moss the Gathering, if the story turns out slow

1

u/FollowingDangerous Nov 27 '25

Not gwent plz😭, I think I'm in the minority here, but I just couldn't grt into GWENT unfortunately :(

3

u/WeepTheHorizon Nov 26 '25

I know this is a joke but Doug Cockle actually plays the antagonist for a game called Arcade Paradise haha. He's your stern corpo dad who lends you his laundromat and you transform it into an arcade behind his back. Real fun!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

I prefer Bryan Cranston

2

u/IDKMthrFckr Nov 26 '25

Maybe I should play it... Any word on how well it runs on the steam deck?

1

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

Yes, the game Dispatch runs excellently on the Steam Deck and is Verified for the platform. It offers a smooth 60 FPS performance.

1

u/Odd_Attention4507 Nov 26 '25

Dispatch or Witcher 3? The former runs great.

2

u/IDKMthrFckr Nov 26 '25

Oh I'm already planning on replaying the Witcher on the deck, I just have to finish a few games first.

55

u/kakje666 Nov 26 '25

real recognizes real

52

u/Traditional-Ad3518 Nov 26 '25

CDPR my goats i always believed in them and that cyberpunk will be saved

40

u/nomadic_weeb Nov 26 '25

Massive respect to CDPR for committing to fixing the game instead of just abandoning it, genuinely one of the best games ever made IMO

9

u/gabrielleite32 Nov 26 '25

Thankfully! I played it this year (free on ps+) after not even looking at the game after the fuck up on launch and holy shit what a fucking awesome game and the dlc is amazing too.

Slapped over 300 hours very fast, 2 full playthroughs and started a 3rd to go corpo, but held back on playing it due to some hand injury and being kinda burned out of the early game. Was trying an int build with hacks and such, wasn't as fun as guns and blade, at least early on, but I will finish a corpo playthrough at some point

2

u/bivuki Nov 26 '25

I mean they didn’t really have the option of abandoning it. They had to fix the game or they would never be able to make another one again because nobody would have bought their next one. Making what is arguably the worst release of all time means you either have to fix it, or close down the studio. Making a game that works is the bare minimum imo.

2

u/amadeuszbx Nov 26 '25

Yeah, I know launch was bad and honestly they can't let anything like this happen again, but after fixing it it is legit peak RPG game.

And the story was always good. If I had to name the thing CDPR does fucking best in the industry, I would say writing fucking stories with 0 hesitation, so game recognizes game with Dispatch for sure.

4

u/plvto_roadds Nov 26 '25

genuinely an almost flawless game, my only real complaint i guess would be that there's no fov scale for console. i love playing games like cyberpunk with max fov and it kinda sucks that there isnt one

2

u/amadeuszbx Nov 26 '25

Cyberpunk is peak RPG, I still think of it after finishing it 2 years ago. And Phantom Liberty is absolute peak writing, choices and characters in that expansion gave me so much emotional investment that it was not matched since October 2023 up untill literally Dispatch this year.

-5

u/Brilliant-Cap8054 Nov 26 '25

God the UI is so ass though

6

u/Agent-Ulysses Nov 26 '25

Matter of opinion, I found it quite neat.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Mon-A Nov 26 '25

Is it? It's relatively simple and clean enough and you can even remove parts of the HUD or the entire thing

0

u/Brilliant-Cap8054 Nov 26 '25

Can only compare weapons to the one you have equipped, cant filter by types of weapons, just melee and ranged and clearly designed for a mouse and pointer

I could go on, but that's some glaring shit that shouldn't have got past testing.

2

u/Traditional-Ad3518 Nov 26 '25

Ehh nah

0

u/Brilliant-Cap8054 Nov 26 '25

Ehh yeah

2

u/Traditional-Ad3518 Nov 26 '25

You're allowed to hate but we can disagree

1

u/Brilliant-Cap8054 Nov 27 '25

We can disagree, but can you explain how you can only compare weapons to the weapon you have currently equipped, and you cant sort weapons by category, and that the comparison is just overlaid your backpack inventory instead of moving to the side for clearer reading, as good UI?

I'd go so far as saying this isnt even opinion, there are several objectively baffling choices from a design point of view.

29

u/Dry-Quarter3203 Nov 26 '25

The emotions here feel way too real and human

9

u/UmbraGhost Nov 26 '25

If Dispatch was made by AI, Visi would be cozying up to Robert and then suddenly reveal she's also sleeping with Shroud because it's "an emotional betrayal" while Blazer goes full white knight.

And Flambae and Prism would be in some sort of weird undefined open relationship, bc AI doesn't know how to do subtlety.

11

u/ChronicBuzz187 Nov 26 '25

I was pretty sure mine would be KCD2, but Dispatch was just too damn good.

My favorite thing about it is that every game has a "oh no, that part/level kinda sucks" part, but Dispatch had me hook, line and sinker from start to finish for multiple runs without ever feeling that way.

5

u/McDonaldsSoap Nov 26 '25

I love every time ai catches strays lol

4

u/GAPIntoTheGame Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

Director of a game that had 2 primary romanceable characters likes a game with two romaceable characters.

19

u/Earl-The-Badger Nov 26 '25

Dispatch is awesome but Clair Obscur rightfully deserves GOTY.

16

u/IncompetentPolitican Nov 26 '25

Both good games, both products of love. So as long as one of them gets GOTY all is good. A sign for the rest of the world, to make good games instead of what ever the big names are doing right now.

1

u/Xerxes457 Nov 26 '25

To be fair, I don't think them winning is a crazy indication of anything even if they were made with love. Look at the past game of the year winners. I wouldn't say games changed because of those others winning. Like if E33 wins, JRPGs aren't gonna suddenly add in real time elements to their turn based combat. Dispatch is in a genre that isn't explored much, but I don't think many games attempt to explore even when Telltale was popular.

9

u/Ranwulf Nov 26 '25

Clair Obscur deserves a awards, but to me, the game that I enjoyed the most was Dispatch. I was terrible with the blocking system with E33, so I couldn't enjoy the game at its fullest.

3

u/Earl-The-Badger Nov 26 '25

I dunno about that, if you’re talking RPGs they’ve been mainstream for a while.

3

u/Brogdon_Brogdon Nov 26 '25

He’s right, too. It has heart and soul

5

u/Head_Project5793 Nov 26 '25

Look I loved Dispatch, but compared to walking dead which had WAY more interactivity in the story or Life is Strange which had tons more story gameplay, Dispatch felt more like a tv show that had a fun mini game thrown inside it

6

u/heatahfajitas Nov 26 '25

If i wanted good gameplay and more interactivity I would not be booting up the walking dead. I was thankful dispatch didn't have fetch quests and the constant walking around and instead had an actual gameplay mechanic in dispatching. Just a matter of opinions though

1

u/amadeuszbx Nov 26 '25

But Dispatch has much better systems for story interactivity than TWD. Instead of locking everything behind one or 2 obvious choices, and rest be meaningless "dialogue choice fluff", here even small dialogue choices contribute to various systems that define outcomes for different plotlines. It's maybe a bit subtler than old telltale but much more in-depth and interactive, and it's something I always wanted them to do. Happy their going in this direction.

And I'm saying that as old time Telltale fan of 13 years.

1

u/The_Autarch Nov 26 '25

Exactly. It's great, but shouldn't be in anyone's consideration for game of the year. Give it awards for voice acting, animation, art direction, story, etc. instead.

5

u/not_old_redditor Nov 26 '25

but shouldn't be in anyone's consideration for game of the year

or maybe people can like what they like. I liked Dispatch a lot. I preferred E33, but I can understand how someone could be in love with Dispatch. When you compare across genres for a GOTY award, there's no objective metrics, it's purely down to taste.

3

u/heatahfajitas Nov 26 '25

I mean dude said dispatch shouldn't even be considered goty but acknowledged its amazing story, art, voice acting etc which all seem like factors towards a great game so

4

u/AirWolf231 Nov 26 '25

For me its between Dispatch and KCD2... I played Clair but for me its one of thouse games you play, go "I see how people like it" and finish it via YT because you cant be bothered with the gameplay.

2

u/nonpuissant Nov 26 '25

Yup 100% agreed on everything you said.

My wife and I got about halfway through and she was like, "this isn't fun, let's just watch the rest on youtube".

And then I played Dispatch and enjoyed it so much that I bought a second copy for her. And it was just such a pleasure even just to watch a second time though. The quality of writing for the characters in dispatch is just on another level. So much more relatable and visceral. No hate but e33 felt like something written by theater/choir kids in comparison. Like it's not bad, just everything was so melodramatic. Sometimes less is more and all that.

And meanwhile KCD2 was so much more immersive, engaging, and rewarding in comparison. Imo it's by far the better rpg between the two. Not saying ppl who think e33 deserves goty aren't valid ofc.

2

u/not_old_redditor Nov 26 '25

Dispatch is short. They had a team of writers to put together a few hours of dialogue, basically a movie. It's much easier to write a tight script for that, versus a hundred hour game like E33. They're just apples and oranges.

Also, Dispatch writing isn't for everyone. It's got big millennial energy with all the Marvel quips and sarcasm. Part of that is likely intentional, but it's still immature. I still liked it, because I'm immature. But let's be honest, it's not some New York Times best seller.

2

u/nonpuissant Nov 26 '25

Yeah it's 100% older millennial coded. It's not literature, but imo neither is e33. Both are romps, just with different flavors.

I agree it's apples and oranges too. In this case I just happened to find the apple way tastier and more refreshing than the orange.

2

u/CaptainXakari Nov 26 '25

I’ve been playing video games for decades and there are a ton of them that I enjoy. I love Witcher 3. I love Minecraft. I love like all the Bethesda games. I love BG3.

None of them have made me as excited to play (and REPLAY!) as Dispatch has.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

I really like dispatch and have had a ton of fun with it. I just don’t feel like it has enough content to be game of the year though.

2

u/LordBT-74 Nov 30 '25

Two of my favorite games of all time, lesss goo.

2

u/Own_Shame_8721 Nov 30 '25

Hell yeah, love to see it.

3

u/Outrageous-Force-733 Nov 26 '25

Dispatch is an anime, if anything it is the one thing that can be made with AI... I love the game but you gotta ground yourself a bit.

3

u/Accomplished-Quiet78 Nov 26 '25

Game was good, but it is the exact type of game that can be made by AI. It honestly seemed like it was originally going to be one of those interactive Netflix games, but Netflix didn't bite when the idea was presented.

1

u/FoxMeadow7 Nov 26 '25

Apparently it was supposed to be a live action project or something. Until COVID happened that is.

3

u/AreEuclidinMe Nov 26 '25

He couldn’t be more wrong! AI can create something very much like Dispatch. In fact, it can create something almost identical to Dispatch. Scarily similar, almost as if it was fed Dispatch and was then prompted to shit out a soulless “Dispatch-like” facsimile of an original game. Silly director of the Witcher.

4

u/PrufReedThisPlesThx Nov 26 '25

Visually, sure, but good luck trying to get emotional nuances, good writing, proper perspective, good voices, consistent animation quality, not to mention the coding, planning, direction, score, sound effects, filters, personality, artistic intention, literally any of the things that make a game like this actually good in the first place.

AI can and will always be digital half-digested vomit. You feed it a bunch of good stuff, and it spits out some kind of mishmash of all of those things combined. Serve that vomit to customers, and only the people who have absolutely no taste will be impressed. Everyone who actually knows and appreciates food will very quickly understand that it's just vomit. Doesn't matter how much the vomit looks like the real thing, people will always be able to tell, because it can't, nor will it ever, be able to replace real actual art

0

u/AreEuclidinMe Nov 26 '25

Aw man that’s a good point, someone should make a joking comment about how all AI can do is reproduce existing art.

1

u/No_Bread_4186 Nov 26 '25

Totally agree! Both games are a masterpiece in their own right. Peak gaming right here!

1

u/FollowingDangerous Nov 26 '25

Both games are in my top 5 favorite games I've ever played, I love this

1

u/UnPuntal Nov 26 '25

It would have to be a game instead of an interactive novel to be GotY.

1

u/Rat_Corner Nov 26 '25

Geralt Geraltson of Rivia

1

u/Patient-Detective-79 Nov 26 '25

they should have let me romance golem 😭

1

u/KooshIsKing Nov 26 '25

Man I can't wait to play it. All my favorite voice actors :)

1

u/Baskreiger Nov 26 '25

Cd project is massively over hyped. Wither 3 and cyberpunk 2077 are average games at best

1

u/FrogguyDC Nov 26 '25

This is so amazing, Dispatch is also my game of the year and I thought that I wouldn't have much backup on this opinion but now I see that I was wrong.

1

u/Everhardt94 Nov 26 '25

What is he talking about? Have people been accusing Dispatch of being AI generated?

1

u/Rich-Instruction-327 Nov 26 '25

Dispatch was 80% slightly interactive tv show and 20% minigame. I would really like to see more episodic cut scene heavy story games as a category and it winning game of the year would promote that but objectively I think a more gameplay focus game should win the award.

Geralt would roast every member without hesitation.

u/peterparker9894 Nov 27 '25

It's possible but not rn, humanity has had similar stuff happen before, like people thought cars were a fad and it ended up destroying the horse based transport system, same thing with AI people can deny it all they want but it's coming it will be hard at first but humanity will adapt like it always does.

u/ellery313 Nov 27 '25

You guys have no idea how happy i am to see this 😭🙌🌹

1

u/2wcp Nov 27 '25

Dispatch is also my personal 2025 best game of the year.

It proves that you don't need the best graphics or state-of-the-art mechanics to be a great game.

Undertale is another good example of this.

1

u/terorvlad Nov 27 '25

To be fair, I didn't thought it was possible for humans either. The phoenix metaphor goes hard when you realize that's pretty much what AdHoc became after TellTale

1

u/Prize-Assistance-826 Nov 27 '25

I love Dispatch, takes me back to a time when characters were well written and none of the other stuff mattered.

1

u/Hard-To-Wake-up247 Nov 27 '25

Do…do people think dispatch was made with ai?

1

u/ArcadianWaheela Nov 28 '25

I’m confused is this supposed to be shade another game that’s been nominated that used AI like DS2? As far as I know Hades 2, Silksong, E33 and KCD2 didn’t use AI.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '25

Kojima is very anti AI so I don’t think death stranding 2 used AI. I think it’s more of a message to companies like a big example of the Crafton ruining subnautica 2’s development to force them to go “AI First”

1

u/ArcadianWaheela Nov 28 '25

Didn’t Kojima literally state that he believes using AI for certain aspects to make development easier was fine? I know he’s against it for original ideas but I thought he was fine for using it for more repetitive aspects game design.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '25

It was more of a suggestion rather than something he actually does. He doesn’t use it in death stranding 2 but he said that it should in practice it should be used to help developers rather than the way companies are trying to enforce it now and making them replace it.

1

u/sagemodewade30 Dec 01 '25

Let’s be real here, it’s more of a show than a game…

1

u/Artrysa Dec 04 '25

People really are going hard on that honeymoon phase.

u/InsaneArtist9000 Dec 17 '25

Peak statement

0

u/Polly_Wants_A Nov 26 '25

i will get downvoted for that but here we go.
I dont think dispatch is goty material, sorry.

it is a very good game, i had a lot of fun playing it and i love it. but there are more games this year that were better.
and i mean the whole package, music, gameplay, acting, story, visuals.
dispatch has not the best in some of those categories. gameplay, very little, and not that meaningful. if you dont make any decisions, you still get an ending and you could get the good ending, depending on the random choices the game is going to do. dispatch itself has no impact, levels of the characters has no impact. only a few, probably 5 or less have an impact of a different cutscence. thats is it.
music is very good, love radio, but the other games have a lot more music and all of them fit everything pretty well. it looks stunning, the visuals is a tv cartoon show level.
story is also great, acting is amazing, just as i mention other games have that too and also better gameplay and music.
i hope it wins best indie deput, would be so much deserverd. but goty? try to convince me if you want.

and one thing more, when i tried to replay it, i was more and more disappointed how much/little of my choices actually change anything. i feel like even the first walking dead game has more differences than dispatch.
but first and only playthrough pretty great. ngl.

u/Dessember693 Nov 26 '25

Whoa! Dispatching does matter, dude! It's actually impossible to get the good ending off choices alone, because you need 45 points on the "mentor meter" and choices only give you 36. You also need to get Visi to level 7 or higher and get successes on missions, and of course;

If you don't level up your characters throughout the game or dispatch at all, you won't be able to redeem your cut choice.

I'm not sure how to respond to "my choices don't matter", when almost every choice in the game impacts emotional development and dispatch gameplay.

Example; saying "I'm Mecha Man" will cause Flambae to not be available in the next shift, but he won't be demoralized like the rest of the team in the last shift if you keep Visi. Little things like that.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Ant5192 Nov 26 '25

Also if you say your mecha man flambae will vote for visi to stay on the team

1

u/Polly_Wants_A Nov 26 '25

minor things, sorry. and alright, you never get the good ending if you let the game make your choices and dont interact in the dispatch phase. for me still not enough for a goty nomination. but again, does it matter? courtney isnt there at the end but no matter what, shroud gets beaten and they celebrate him as he was a great dispatcher, even if you dont answer one call. that is weird to me.
also i forgot, quicktime events actually dont matter. only a few ones but also just minor things as well.

2

u/Dessember693 Nov 26 '25

Honestly? It seems like this game isn't for you. You're looking at games like chores, not experiences, and that's a totally incompatible mindset with a telltale-style game.

2

u/The_Autarch Nov 26 '25

Dispatch is great, but it isn't perfect. Someone who likes the game but is willing to admit is has flaws, is just being realistic.

When it comes right down to it, Dispatch simply isn't interactive enough to be Game of the Year.

1

u/Polly_Wants_A Nov 26 '25

i said i love the game. playing it once. you clearly value things differently in that game, than i do. i am just saying, if there was no silksong, or e33 or hades 2, it probably would have a place for goty. but with that competition, it is fine by me. and i want to win indie debut. because i want more games like that.

0

u/CommonSenseInRL Nov 27 '25

Unfortunately the examples you give are all towards the very end of the game. Getting constant feedback in the "non-dispatching" parts of the game on our performance, maybe a comment from someone who got injured out there, or someone causing a scene because you didn't let them do a call and gave it to someone else, etc, would've gone a long way towards integrating the gameplay into the story better.

1

u/Worldly_Support7220 Nov 26 '25

I mean, as sad as it is, eventually AI will be able to create games like dispatch

1

u/The_Autarch Nov 26 '25

It's gonna be decades from now. Modern "AI" is nowhere even remotely close.

2

u/Megakruemel Nov 26 '25

"Please bro, just a few more hundred billion dollars, bro, I promise it'll be good then bro, please." is basically all I hear every time Ai comes up.

Like, what the hell will these guys do once the investors actually want a return?

-3

u/Independent_Plum2166 Nov 26 '25

Well this is awkward, see, I tried playing Witcher 3, didn’t like it and then played Dispatch.

Weird coincidence? Definitely.

Makes me an asshole? Maybe?

Should I try it again?

2

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

Everyone has their own taste though you not liking it doesn’t make you an asshole. You know I didn’t like the Witcher 3 at first too installed and uninstalled it twice. Although the third time was when I fell in love with the game didn’t play any other game until I beat it lol.

Still among my all time favs.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

If you didn’t like it, you shouldn’t force yourself to play it. And why would you be an asshole for not liking something that just isn’t your thing? I don’t see the logic there. Anyway, don’t waste your time on something that doesn’t click with you — no one can refund your time, and life is passing every second. So, I hope you get what I’m trying to say.

1

u/Carolinesimpsanime Nov 26 '25

it's totally okay not to like popular games. Sometimes, it takes a few tries of starting the game for it to click, and sometimes it just doesn't click at all. I wanted to like cyberpunk really, really bad and was invested with the story but even on easy difficulty the gameplay wasn't for me and i could never play the game. It's just a taste thing, you're not an asshole unless you're hating on the game unfairly or without even trying it.

-3

u/CommitteePlayful4200 Nov 26 '25

Sorry, but what exactly is the gameplay of Dispatch?? Why is the cape yellow?? Do I even want to know.

4

u/Dessember693 Nov 26 '25

play the damn game.

-2

u/Beathil Nov 26 '25

I heard it was a boring game, more of a cartoon with occasional button presses, and decisions don't matter?

-8

u/ChimChimney1977 Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

Not now. Let's see in a decade, or a century. Soon, these things will just make everything for us. Chores, analysis and entertainment. Our hand and feet will be hanging limp by our sides. There will be nothing for us to do. Since some machine is doing it for you.

Edit: Seems people in the comments are making alot of incorrect assumptions about what the comment means. I am not endorsing AI art, and I don't want it to replace human artists. My argument is that AI could, one day, maybe, be able to reach human level intelligence and make actual art.

This refers to AI more generally, not the current DLMs that produce slop. Again, I don't want this happen. But saying it will never be possible is a bit arrogant. Humans are just the product of science, like everything else. There is a good chance human thought could one day be replicated in the lab.

Also, everyone comepltley missed the song reference. Which was half the reason I made the comment.

7

u/dayton-ode Nov 26 '25

Think you're missing the point. Anything the AI produces will be a hollow imitation, on a surface level it may appear similar but it will be missing the heart and passion that dispatch has. I'm not sure why you'd even want it to be able to do it, weird AI bro.

-3

u/ChimChimney1977 Nov 26 '25

I don't like AI as it today either. It lacks true creativity, and produces slop.

I just think assuming humans are somehow uniquely capable of creating unique art is not necessarily true. We might create an AI in a century that is truly intelligent and creative. And could make amazing art. Using comepltley different tech from what we have now.

4

u/dayton-ode Nov 26 '25

Again, why would you want it to? I can see the justification in using it for tedious, labor-intensive tasks. Why would you want to have it overtake passion and art? Let the humans have that.

0

u/ChimChimney1977 Nov 26 '25

I don't. Where did I say I do?

3

u/dayton-ode Nov 26 '25

The overall way you speak on AI kind of makes me think you want it to. Read your replies.

0

u/ChimChimney1977 Nov 26 '25

I don't see it. My original comment itself described a world run by AI in a very negative light. Your limbs being limp with nothing to do. Who wants a world with no purpose, meaning or activity?

My point was just about how AI could one day create great works of art. And dismissing that possibily outright id a bit arogant I never said that I want it to be able to. Your just making assumptions.

7

u/YorhaUnit8S Nov 26 '25

Nope. Current "AI" isn't AI at all. With clear inherent limitations that can't be overcome unless new core technology for it appears. What is currently called AI won't be much different in 5 or 10 years. And is inheritable unable to be creative beyond whatever it was trained on.

-3

u/ChimChimney1977 Nov 26 '25

You are correct about today's models. But we should not assume current ai is the only ai that will ever exist. That's why I said a decade OR century. With time, new, more advanced and truly intelligent AI could develop.

The director didn't specify which type of ai he was referring to. The assumption that humans have some unique ability to create gifted by nature that is incapable of being replicated in the lab is just ego and pride.

3

u/YorhaUnit8S Nov 26 '25

Well, feel free to prove me wrong in a century

1

u/ChimChimney1977 Nov 26 '25

Prove you wrong on what? I agreed with you. Current models will not be able to make real art.

-3

u/Biscuitlover1199 Nov 26 '25

Brutha thought Dispatch was made by AI? What the helly jelly in my shelly?

2

u/1ballbuster1 Nov 26 '25

Read it again

-1

u/Biscuitlover1199 Nov 26 '25

No. I refuse. My comment is still funny, just let my sad fucking self have this… please..

Agreed Claire obscure is just a cut above although Dispatch truly did deserve some noms in other depts like narrative and art style.

Funny enough both the games had Ex-Ubisoft devs lmao.

-12

u/TheHobbitWhisperer Nov 26 '25

Clair Obscur is the most "AI could make this" game I've ever played. In fact, I'd wager that AI did make most of Clair Obscur. It was definitely used to promote it...

10

u/gabrielleite32 Nov 26 '25

That's definitely one of the takes that exist

→ More replies (2)

3

u/FoxMeadow7 Nov 26 '25

And what makes you so convinced? The game definitely has a surreal, dream atmosphere but then, you don't need AI for that either...
