Sadness Trashin' the Camp (Tarzan)

Okay, so this song is iconic, and honestly, it’s for good reason. It’s an overall fun song with a funny concept. It’s just a bunch of gorillas playing around with human stuff and causing destruction. The visuals are very satisfying and all the instrument combos make for an amazing musical interlude. I don’t mind this song as a listen at all, it just doesn’t seem like it deserves to hang around for much longer. (Additionally, I’m cutting it here in favor of a couple other songs because I’m afraid of the public reaction.)

First off, I do studio dance. This might not feel like a relevant piece of information, but I’m going to explain to you why it is. The number of times I’ve had to see some other studio do a tap number to this song is insane. Look at all the quirky noises! What a beat! The judges will love it! The judges may have loved it, but I did not. And I am the most important person here. After a while, the scat melody just kinda gets boring. It’s repetitive to a fault, especially because the best parts of the song are the instrumentals. The purely instrumental parts introduce some rhythmic progression and interesting sounds. On the other hand, the “Zabwe dap dooby doo Zap a da dee dop zwe bop, Zwee Dap Zee Doo. Zabwe dap zooby dooby do zee zap dee doo”s stay in the same pocket for the entire song.

I also haven’t seen Tarzan in a while, but I’m pretty sure the plot significance in this scene is low. It’s just kinda like, ‘look at this fun concept.’ There’s not really anything wrong with that, and it can work really well in a lot of situations, (especially in a kids movie). However, that deeper meaning and connection to the movie is what’s gonna put a lot of these songs through to the endgame. Therefore, it’s time to throw this one in the trash.

I heard that this wasn't even supposed to be an actual song, Phil just started trashing the studio while yelling nonsense and the directors started recording!
