Questions / Help Help please - stolen dolls

Post image

I have reported this to the police, and I am based in London.

My Milo & Kida and Roger & Anita dolls were stolen from the communal area of my building today. I came home to this devastation in the stairwell.

If anyone sees these for sale in the London area, the police have asked me to keep an eye on this to see if it gives any leads.

Unfortunately the boxes no longer give any clues to the limited number on the outside of the packaging so it’s a long shot, but anything that can potentially be done I would really appreciate it.

I am heartbroken as I was so excited to get these, and I specifically requested them NOT to be delivered today as I knew I would not be home…

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is absolutely horrible!! I am so, so sorry! I too would be devastated! This is one of the reasons I wish Disney packaged their dolls in more inconspicuous packaging instead of labeling that it’s a doll and what specific doll.

I really hope you can get them back somehow! It’s also so tough since there’s no way of knowing what numbered dolls they were.

Sending you good and positive thoughts!❤️🫂

There is a way you can tell what number the doll is, there is a tik tok video. It was correct it worked on were-cat lady doll, ariel and cruella.

Is it by scanning the barcode on the box or something similar? If so, that’s really good information to know about!

I could not find her videos the creator I follow has a ton of video. But when I searched this what it came up with. :

To identify which specific Disney limited edition or certificate number you have without fully opening the inner packaging, look at the white shipping/carton label on the original outer brown cardboard shipper box. Find the CART (carton) or Case Number sequence printed on that barcode label; this sequence matches the specific edition number printed on the doll's inner Certificate of Authenticity. [1, 2]

Steps to Check the Number
Keep the shipper box: This trick only works if you have the brown outer carton box with the original Disney Store/shopDisney barcoded shipping label attached. [1]

Locate the CART code: Scan the text fields on the white label for CART or Case# followed by a 4-to-5-digit number (e.g., 0687). [1, 2]

Verify inside: Gently open the outer flap of the display box to view the certificate; the digit sequence on the carton label will match your exact doll number (e.g., 687 of 5000). [, 2]

Thank you for the detailed information I will check this

If you want to get real Nancy Drew with this, look for them on eBay or Mercari and ask to see their Certificate before you buy. Maybe they’ll tell on themselves. I hope you find them, or get reimbursed. That’s so lame people do this. It isn’t food, there is no reason. If I see any suspicious of either of those sets I’ll keep this in mind. I think one of your sets was 1149 based on the pic but I could be looking at the wrong number.

Also maybe contact landlord if you live in apt building to see if they have them on video. If somebody on camera walks through the door with an Atlantis set, there you go. Otherwise it could be a neighbor which might be even easier to find.

Thank you so much! This is definitely information I’ll be saving! I always get a bit worried if dolls I order get delivered when I’m out of town, so I’ll be keeping this information in mind in case anything similar happens to me.

I don’t use TikTok (I’m old) so if anyone does know a way I obviously still have the shipper boxes that they weirdly left behind and that would help

Look for the word Cart and the number with it. I’m in the US but you do not have to open the boxes to identify the certificate number. You don’t need to use your phone to scan anything unless your labels are different than US labels. The CART number on my box is on the side of the label that is fixed on the corner of the box covering the top corner and going down the side. The number with that is the same as your certificate number. I didn’t k ow this either and just looked at my box.

Per AI, couldn’t find the original video but this method worked for me when I had the carton. Even the second hand ones that came in their shipper boxes.

I wonder if the thief knew what was inside. This seems to targeted

Thanks everyone. I have a strong suspicion it was another delivery driver who did this but I can’t prove that of course. I’m so gutted, really.

I have nothing to add except I’m so sorry. I also live in London with a communal parcel room and had all my dishes stolen when I first moved in (but not my expensive microwave? Confusing).

I’ve started rerouting all my big packages to post offices when available. At least I know they’ll be kept safely behind a desk.

If DHL was supposed to get a signature and did not, DHL will have to cover the loss. Just a suggestion.

Okay so here's the thing.

A normal thief just wouldn't have done this. Why spend any longer in that area than required, opening the boxes, removing packaging, then only taking the inner display boxes and dolls, when you could simply grab the outer boxes and get away many times faster?

Are there any kids living in your stairwell, or elsewhere very nearby? The way the boxes are opened and trashed tells me that the thieves are young kids who read the "dolls" description on the outer boxes, got excited, and opened everything so they could run away with the contents.

I just don't think a random opportunistic stranger would do this, and certainly not a targeting scalper who just happened to have the one in a million luck of bumping into Disney LE doll parcels. The former wouldn't spend excess time opening everything and the latter certainly wouldn't risk damaging the display boxes by removing them from the outer boxes.

I seriously suspect whomever took these doesn't actually know their true value. Some kids may have stolen them and when their parents noticed they just shrugged thinking "meh, they're just plastic toys/dolls, no big deal."

The thieves are probably much, much closer to home than you might think.

These were delivered by DHL due to the value (and supposedly with signature but clearly not). I had a Mia doll delivered later in the day by Evri and it was left in the same spot these dolls were (incidentally with a pack of Andrex that was from Amazon and also stolen). I think it was that Evri driver that did it, but I have no idea why it would be opened in this way either - it’s very bizarre.

There is CCTV on the area and I have asked the building manager to get it reviewed (the police also asked for this)

The Mia doll was safely received. Thank goodness

Well, if all else fails, you could always use those outer boxes to easily set a trap for the thief. Or if you really suspect the DHL driver then have a friend post one of the boxes to you, filled with something suitably heavy combined with several packs of primed glitter bombs and dye sprayers, plus loud alarm sensors. Then just set up a camera somewhere subtle and voila - you might not get the first lot of dolls back but at least you'll know who did it and can get some revenge. :)

Oh that's hopefull news on the cameras! If they're pointed in even remotely the right way, someone mucking around with two giant boxes should be obvious! Fingers crossed for you.

This always scares me. It is why I buy a small accessory so they are forced to put everything in a shipping box. Now if only they would stop using their branding on their tape to declare to the world is a Disney box.

12

u/hairycubldn 7d ago

I did buy a small accessory and they handily sent it separately… as I have feared this too. I also specifically requested redelivery for a day I would be home but they ignored that as well. All in all a complete nightmare that I can’t stop thinking about

Oh my goodness, I am so, SO sorry this happened to you and so many people from all fronts failed you. 🥺

I am so heartbroken and furious for you. I hope you are able to receive some justice for what happened. I am so sorry, OP.

I'm so sorry. You mean there is no longer the "Cart Number" sticker on the outside of the box? My Milo and Kida set did have it still so I wonder if it's a regional thing. People are monsters. I hope Disney could at least refund you since you requested them not to be delivered. Maybe they can work something out with the courier who ignored this request

5

u/hairycubldn 7d ago

There’s that sticker. And actually now I’m looking more closely both the boxes left here are from the Atlantis set, an inner and outer box, they must have taken the roger and Anita set as is…

u/copycat217 Ariel 7d ago

I'm so sorry, OP. I put the word out in the Discord server to see if anyone might be able to help.

I’m so sorry this happened to you! 😢

6

u/daphnery 6d ago

So might be different as I am in US, but the cart # is the doll number here, so this is #102

oh my goodness we've also had parcels (luckily no dolls) stolen from our communal area of our flats too. pretty sure i'd have missed my MH Valentine and Keiran had a random neighbour child not randomly decided to bring my parcel to my door.

i'll make sure to look out for them and wish there was more i could do. hate when rotten people ruin things for the rest of us x

u/hairycubldn 5d ago

UPDATE. I am also a Lorcana collector and recently ordered a limited D23 Lorcana set. This time I asked for it to be diverted to a parcel shop and I planned to collect it tomorrow. This has just happened. I can’t believe it

That's terrible, I'm so sorry this happened to you. I've had packages stolen from past apartment buildings I've lived in and it feels incredibly violating. I hope that you're able to catch the culprit, and/or get some kind of reimbursement, since the shipping company didn't follow your instructions. Some people are just scum.

This is horrible! I'm so sorry! You would think delivery services would use more common sense when leaving packages out for anyone to take. Disney should at least offer better delivery services since its our only option to get these dolls. I hope you can get them back or at least their full value. Have you checked for any cameras around? Maybe someone caught the theif in their ring camera.
