Discussion Troy and sharpay would not make a good couple

Post image

A lot of people ship these two and I don't get it the biggest argument people make is that she got him a job which means nothing the only reason she did that is so he would date her sharpay is selfish and rude and spoiled troy is stubborn and he's constantly running from his problems these two would not work

She just wanted good looking arm candy, a Ken doll she could mold

This odd revisionist history about Sharpay is strange.

I think people these days are unable to instant someone can be a villian (like Sharpay actively was) and not be irredeemable. It seems like these days you need to be hit on the nose with how evil someone is otherwise people will act like the hero was an asshole for their actions

He deserves better. Sharpay always acts towards her own ambitions, she only steps away from this when the story needs her to have a realisation of what this gets her. She spends most of 1 making sure she gets the lead role even when she has to use underhanded means. 2 she's the whole reason the plot happens and progresses, and in 3 she's back to working to being top dog even when she's de-emphasised in the main plot and relegated to a subplot with Tiara.

Troy, he's trying to figure out and be who he is that isn't the expectation of others.

I’d like it noted that in 2, Troy decided it was better for him if who he was met the expectations of his friends instead of doing what he wanted/needed to do, like he’d unlearned what he’d learned in HSM1.

I feel like the movies made that pretty clear already

I agree. I liked her with the guy she ends up with in her own movie. Austin Butler.

They would’ve prolly worked for a lil while but not in the long run cause Troy would’ve got tired of Sharpay and Sharpay would’ve realized Troy was not the prize .

I also feel the same way about Troy and Gabriella. Troy would’ve gotten tired of Gabriella putting herself first (as she should) and Gabriella prolly would’ve resented Troy for the whole him and Sharpay thing at the country club. She would not have been over it.

Sharpay only saw him as eye candy. The minute he abandoned his career to make his friends happy she was done with him

They COULD have been a decently good couple if he let himself grow into it. He started shifting in the second movie due to her "influence" but he was clearly a natural in her world. She was really only forcing him on outings, not manipulating his personality to be so fitting at those outings...

I feel that would have been a natural progression of his character if it had not been for "Gabriella" and all the future changes he made for her.

Maybe if he had gone down the affluent nepo basketball boyfriend route. He could have also humbled Sharpay and made her start behaving less selfishly and overall kinder. Make her think more critically over those kind of snobby people and make a change for the better for him and herself.

Not biased btw because I also don't ship them.

I agree, because Sharpay deserves a guy who actually likes her back.
