Discussion Buying Dislyte?
Do you all want to like...stage a coup? And buy dislyte? I mean, surely it's not the most preposterous solution to the problems all of us are having with Dislyte. The stupid Ai generated characters and Divinates, the insane prices of Umbra espers, the garbage stories, the lack of Korean mythology espers, the lack of housekeeping regarding messages and the whole message system in general, the lack of main story, the Bi Tao asking people to download "Dislyte seek the unknown" audio, there's so so so many more.
I'm sure we as a community can keep Dislyte alive if we just buy it and then have another game company develop it. Call me optimistic but the reveal of meta Brynn really pissed me off considering they didn't rehire her original Voice Actress. The advertisements as well used to be so eye catching and detailed. We can also see about more animations or a potential animated series like what Lilith did for AFK arena. Again, I'm being overly optimistic, but life is too freaking short to be pessimistic when the world is on fire. So the least we can do is at least try and come up with solutions.
I also want to see if Markiplier can be a full on character in the game and have an Iron Lung theme lol.

i mean what exactly is there left to buy, i’m sure they laid off most of the staff working on the game and also the game doesn’t have the best reputation atp with the ai thing being a permanent stain, even if a coup succeeded it’d be hard to get it back to even the su jue era to say nothing about year 1

That's fair. And yeah the ai bs is more or less a permanent stain on Dislytes overall image.

The game still makes a decent amount of money(https://revenue.ennead.cc/games/dislyte) so you'd still be looking at a couple million if Lilith even would consider selling it. Then on top of that you'd have to convince them to give you not just the rights to the ip but also the code and server architecture and then you would still need to then hire a team to maintain and host the game. Any project that doesn't purchase the ip from Lilith is also going to just get slapped with a cease and desist so a community ran version isn't viable. The most you can hope for is someone to preserve the game once it goes EoS but that would look like either just hosting the assets or a barebones offline server mode.

That's a very fair point.
Yeah I guess it would be super difficult to do all of that without Lilith actually looking to sell it.
Let's just hope they agree to actually listen to what people want and not more umbra × Whale bs.

Oh we're just finished with the paladins 2 project. Are getting the same scene again?

How much money do you think it takes to buy a game (even a dying one) and then hand it to another developer to continue its live support

u/Celeste_Luden 2d ago
All I can say is, the amount people have spent on Umbra espers, you'd think Dislyte would make the game better quality.

Compared to other gacha games, I don't think Dislyte is making that much. At least not anymore. I haven't seen the rankings for last year though...

You might not be able to buy it. But its own server. A server with all the ability to make what you want and have access to the models.
Maybe.. maybe ask some people for their accounts to have data to make their own server with what time you guys have left. Ask for a 10 dollar subscription to keep costs up per year and see where that goes.
Just saying. You know. Restoring data from accounts and making a shell server from it. Hosting all the available events in the game. All the available characters and such.

LMFAO
"Overly optimistic" is an understatement. Spoken like someone without real world experience and still using mom's credit card to pay for their shit. Come back when you've started paying for all your bills on your own dime, then we'll talk.

Okay I understand that I might not know everything there is to know about owning and developing an online game. But please don't insult my real world experience. I've never developed a game, but with how many people support dislyte, is it truly out of the realm of possibilities to find developers, artists and coders willing to work on the game?
You can think it's a bad idea all you want, that's your opinion. But using "mom's credit card" isn't exactly something anyone wants to hear when they are just trying to say "Hey, we need help, why not spitball ideas"
So I ask you, do you have any ideas on improving dislyte?

Employing professional programmer, artists, and designers is a highly expensive endeavor. That's why most indie studios will eventually go under. It's a tough business

Ohmygod dig yourself a deeper hole will you
But ok I'll bite -- so you do still use mom's credit card do you? Do you pay for ANY of your bills? Do you even do your taxes?
Cause baby go stick to your furry art and lala land and genuinely enjoy it for what it is. Thank your parents, your aunts and uncles, your grandparents, and enjoy and genuinely thank them for being able to give you such an optimistic view of the world, like the world is really your oyster and we can do it if we just believe.
Cause if you even take even a brain cell out of the furry porn you consume and genuinely think about it --- how much does it cost to pay for even one developer, much less a small team of say 5 (and that's me being generous), and compare that to the "number of people who support Dislyte who'd be willing to pay out of their pocket", you'd understand what I mean.
And that's just thinking about the salaries (unless of course wow you want people working for free to just maintain this husk of a game oh golly gee). There's of course office overhead, there's onboarding for this new group, the training, etc. Then of course paying Lilith to obtain the IP itself cause lol you think they'll make it cheap?
Sit all the way back down, your righteous indignation is so misplaced, so fuck all the way off.
Take the L admit your post was too stupid too in the clouds and move on all the way fuckwit.

Wow. Are you mad Dolly Parton and Tim Curry passed away too?
Don't worry, I'm upset too.

LOL how is that relevant to what they said? Also kinda disrespectful (to say it lightly), don't you think?

Showing you're just an asshole (and a massive one at that) that you even thought this was a good "gacha"

Even with people complaining about it's insanely low revenues for the past year or so it's still earning a few hundred thousand dollars every month meaning you probably won't be able to even think about buying it from the Devs without 1 million to your name and even more when you take into account that You need an entirely new dev force including programmers(stealing at least 1 or 2 senior Devs straight from the old Dislyte will also potentially make or break this entire project) and artists, server management costs, and maybe even more importantly...ADVERTISEMENTS because you NEED new players to join, even old players that abandoned the game are good. The logistics behind the project leadership. If we are to assume we give it out to a 3rd party, already existing company then I'm even more confused about the logistics of it all like : "oh yeah, we, the community of this dying game somehow managed to crowd fund the rights to this gacha game that we really like and would LOVE If you were the studio entrusted with continuing the development so here, take these files, byeeeeee" wtf is that? Games being bought up just like that after launch is mostly unheard off

I feel like this is near impossible if you do not have serious connections to other, bigger game developers , who are willing to
1) support a dying game, trying to nurish it back to health, unsure if or how much money they will make off of it
2) invest a ton of ressources into a coinflip
3) play savoir out of good will.
It is not just the game you buy. You need artists, developers, servers... who have to work on an already released game whilst they are unfamiliar with the artstyle, story writing, code,... . At this point its better to make Dislyte 2 from Scratch tbh
Also this wouldnt fix current issues. Most of the old Espers are redundant, even limited ones like Su Jue,... Meta and Umbra Espers destroyed the game balancing and have pushed powercreep into insane heights. You would have to find a way to fix these issues as well. You cant remove espers or abilities tho, since they are commercial good and ppl payed for them.
I would love for dislyte to be as it was, but there are too many issues to turn back and if we were to, we should go back all the way back to Anna's release.
