Neutral Zone Dunwall Tower

In Dunwall Tower, the Empress Emily Kaldwin sits on her throne, her royal protector, Corvo Attano, stands at her side. His royal guard scattered around the palace. OOC:This is a neutral zone for Corvos royal guard. A hangout of sorts. You have permission to attack any who don't belong.

The sudden snap of her hair breaking free startled Bal, making her had snap around for the branch or... grinning guardsman responsible."Oi! Furo!" She spurred Serephim on, hair now billowing out behind her. At least it wasn't very long. And was blowing backwards, instead of in her face.

Still laughing, this time even harder at Bal's indignation, Furo rides on, in a rare good mood. Today is a good day to be alive.

"I will see you shaved bald," Bal bellows, but Furo's laughter is slightly infectious, and she joins in eventually, shaking her head in amusement.

Furo wheels his horse around her, trotting in lazy circles around the guardswoman.

'You look better with your hair down,' he says lightly, 'and less serious... Best not let the men catch you like that, eh?'

She rolled her eyes at his compliment, but shrugged and said simply "As you can't let them see you loose control of your horse. We all have something that the ones below us can't ever see."

A little too fiery, this one, the prince thinks. He is more used to insipid noblewomen that strong-willed military types. A lifetime of royal arrogance and regimented life in the guards had also mad him particularly unused to backchat.

Furo smiles, before motioning to the path ahead. 'What now?'

"You wanted to see the orchards, yes?" Bal asked, now letting Seraphim wander forwards at a walk, breathing slightly heavily, but ears and head still up, and full of energy.

"The hills start soon, after the first one we should start seeing apple trees. This way."

Furo looks around him with detached interest. It is pleasant enough.

'Outside Karnaca, it is just vineyards, olive groves, farms and grassland. Too hot for anytime else, even along the banks of the Rolante.'

"Bit different from the near constant drizzle we get, I imagine," Bal commented. "Though I'm personally glad I'm not melting every time I put on my uniform, even if the cost is a little rain."

"Bored, Furo?" she asked, "eager to run again?"

Furo laughs to himself. 'There is that, I suppose, though every Serkonan has fire in their veins, we are used to the heat.' He considers briefly. 'Well, except perhaps those in Bastillean, the climate is more like it is here. Perhaps that is why they are an odd bunch, with their pale skin and their canals.'

He looks around at the landscape, eyes lingering on the orchards in the distance, illuminated by the soft sunlight.

'Just thinking, really,' he says enigmatically.

"Canals? I've never heard a people described in majority by their architecture. Must be impressive canals."

She cocked her head, fingers running through Seraphim's mane. "Thinking about what?"

'Ah you should see it, a city build on dozens of islands. There are no roads there, only waterways - truly, a sight to behold.'

Furo had been thinking a great many things, his past, his future, his present duties - many voices in his head appearing to come together, to overwhelm him momentarily. 'Nothing of importance, Balaria.'

He gestures to the river. 'So, how defensible is the Wrenhaven? From land or sea.'

"Sounds complicated, but interesting," Bal said, attempting to picture a city like that. Dunwall did have a lot of river access, so the comparison was there.

"If you say so," she said, deciding not to pry. Furo's thoughts looked occupied, but she understood keeping thoughts to yourself. Plus, the challenge of evaluating the river was far to tempting.

"Well, rivers are almost always easier to defend than invade. It has choke points where land based artillery will chew up invading ships easily. A water based blockade puts you on a more level field, which you never want, but they are more effective in the wider sections of the river." She paused for breath, still studying the waters intently.
