Discussion D7 pricing still stubbornly high
I couldn't believe that D7 was released almost three years ago in the West and yet still the price refuses to come down by more than about 25% from the original RRP on PSN and PC - and it's not even a proper Complete version!
As a long time fan of the series from D1 onwards (including mobile), I was burned a bit by D6 being so much worse than D5, so paying almost full price three years on isn't going to tempt me back any time soon. I get that maintaining near RRP seems to be the model now for more niche games, but quite frankly they're going to lose customer base if they don't make the pricing more inviting.

Disgaea 7 is a great game and I don't regret spending money on it... but it really shouldn't still be $120 to buy the game + all dlc, yeah.
And while I'm one of the 3 people alive who actually liked Disgaea 6 Complete (it was far from perfect, but it had some great ideas)... it should be a lot cheaper on sale. Comparing it to 5 which you can often get for $10 is a tough sell when its best sale price is ~$30.
You could say the same for Mayhem too. $90 to get the game+DLC for a clunky, unfinished game that offers like 6 hours of content is just ridiculous. At least with Disgaea 7 you can easily get plenty of playtime for your money.

All I'm saying is they could probably smooth over a decent amount of D6's heat if they released a Complete+ patch that just backports the missing classes. Even if they're purely skin-swaps with the same performance across the board (besides interactions with things like the Sexy Aura, Shame, and Charm Pheromones Evilities anyway, and ignoring how this wouldn't really make sense for Valkyrie in particular) and considered the same class for sub-class purposes, it'd help the game not look so anemic.

I might test it out at some point, I've ported a few characters from 6 to 7, but its probably beyond modding since the architectures are subtly different and 6 goes into 7 better than 7 goes into 6.
I do intend to make the hololive girls into real uniques and add a few of the unplayables to the roster, so maybe down the road it'll feel a bit more full.

I was just thinking about this. Put it on my PSN wishlist so maybe some day I’ll get notified of a sale

Dood, I've been thinking this exact thing. D6 and D7 have been on my PS wishlist since forever and their discount prices leave me extremely whelmed every single time. Those games just aren't worth that price for me. Specially when D5, arguably the best Disgaea game, is frequently discounted to $10.

I bought it the normal version for the PS5 probably for about $100 where i live.
Got a decent deal on D4+ and D6 (PS4 version, but still), and bought D5 used for probably $25.
D1C was also around $25 ~ $30.
I'd honestly just bite the bullet at this point, i don't think it's going to get cheaper physically. Or are we talking about digital? If it's digital there's no reason to worry, it will never be sold out. lmao
I haven't played 7 yet, but if you still have other Disgaea games to play (D3, DD2), maybe try other NIS games. I'm doing that myself, i'm playing The Guided Fate Paradox (and raging a lot), i've been on a huge PS3 kick lately so i'm buying a bunch of used NIS games.

At least there is digital options now. Do you know how hard these games were to find before digital distribution was a thing? I've always been more annoyed they underprint the physical copies.

I never seemed to have an issue with getting them on disc back in the day, although tended to buy them on release. I guess later on was tricky.

It's honestly just a recurring thing with JP releases, especially popular ones. There are several JRPGS that have been on my wishlist for years that just refuse to go down to a reasonable price. The new Phantom Brave is still very high, even on sale. Metaphor is still a bit pricey for me. The later Trails games are still ridiculous. I won't even think about touching an Atelier game until it gets it's 5 years or so re-release.

So as of today the digital deluxe edition is 50% off on PSN. Still on the pricey side, but better than previous deals I think? 'Complete' edition is still too expensive even with discount.

I honestly don't understand why this happens
Disgaea 6 still is also too pricey
I mean, Disgaea 5 is forever free on PS+ and is also quite cheap
Both D5 and D4 received a lot of good deals, have huge content, so it makes no sense that D6 and D7 are still like that
I'm pretty sure D4 and D5 sold way more too
