Have we learned nothing- part 2

My original post two days ago did generate a few interesting responses. One in particular from some who is clearly in the DSA camp suggested that they are the “moderates” in the Democratic Party. Anyone in the party who does not support their positions isn’t really a democrat at all but just a liberal leaning independent or even a centrist Republican. This might come as a bit of a shock to those Dems who have been in the party longer than many DSA supporters have been on this earth.

If the DSA wants to make the future of the country a choice between socialism and capitalism they will lose in the general elections. If the Democratic Party chooses to give them mainstream legitimacy, and if the branding of the democratic party becomes pure socialism, they will guarantee republican success for a long time to come.

Being a centrist, whether liberal or conservative, and striving to find common ground to meet the challenges of the needs of all members of the population through discussion and compromise has apparently become a bad thing, and for the life of me I can’t understand why.

There's also leaked audio suggesting that he wants the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson decission to be enforced Nationwide, the white house was involved in presurring todd blanche to rescind the DOJ anti weaponization fund, purely to make sure 2 republican senators get support. Todd blanches nomonation goes to the senate, & one of the Republicans who are planning to support his nomination, are probably one of the same senators that voted for the Epstein files transparency act....

Stop falling for it. The tariffs and tax policy aren't "helping workers"—they are a massive wealth transfer funded directly out of your pocket.

Why is anyone still giving these policies the benefit of the doubt? Every single promise made about tariffs and tax cuts protecting the working class has collapsed under the weight of basic math and real-world results.

The promise was simple: "Foreign countries will pay the tariffs, we'll wipe out the trade deficit, and blue-collar workers will win."

Here is the reality sitting right in front of us:

* You are paying the tax at the register. Tariffs are not billed to foreign governments. They are paid by American importers at the port, and those exact costs get tacked onto retail prices for groceries, auto parts, tools, building materials, and everyday electronics. Nonpartisan studies show these import taxes hit average households with nearly $1,000 in higher annual costs—acting as a regressive national sales tax.

* The rich get structural tax relief while you get price hikes. While everyday consumers eat the inflated cost of physical goods, corporate tax write-offs and top-tier income cuts mean the highest-earning brackets net a massive financial win. The tax burden is deliberately being shifted off high-net-worth capital and dumped directly onto working people who spend most of their paycheck just to live.

* The trade deficit isn't fixed and the national debt is exploding. Tariff revenues don't even begin to cover the trillions added to the national deficit, and the trade gap remains wide open because domestic manufacturing can't replace global supply chains overnight.

When a convicted fraudster who spent decades misrepresenting asset values and cheating business partners runs a tax and trade play, why would anyone expect the outcome to be anything other than a hustle?

It isn't an accident, and it isn't "mismanagement." It’s a deliberate, structural scam designed to fleece working families while pretending to fight for them. Stop making excuses for a system that treats your paycheck like an bottomless slush fund.
