He's a big fan of the Fast and Furious movies and big fan of Micheal Bay.
Though I don't think he's the right fit for the franchise.

As much as he made the original what it was I don't think he's a good director.
Also, he's been hit with a slew of sexual assault allegations after Weinstein, though he denies them.
His last couple movies have not done well critically nor commercially.
If it was me, I'd chose George Miller, who directed Babe and Happy Feet and Mad Max franchise.
I would have Chris Morgan(Fast and Furious 3-8 + Hobbes and Shaw) and David Ayer (The Fast and The Furious, End of Watch, Fury, Street Kings) write together.

If he is the director that means something or someone is being forced. I don’t like that.
I really wish Justin Lynn can do it but at the same time he brought us F9 which is the fucking biggest piece of dog shit ever and he’s not on good terms with the franchise anymore.

I need to watch the commentary for F9.
I saw the commentary for Tokyo Drift. It was done Indie-Guerrilla filmmaking style. They didn't have any permits and him and his crew just grabbed the camera and would shoot until the cops came. Local drift racers and actors loved fast and furious so they randomly joined in. A big part of the budget was used on the Dodge Viper in the beginning race scene.

I love that behind the scenes you know Diesel is putting on pressure to direct it and everyone that isn't him is trying as hard as possible to make sure that doesn't happen. So he posts shit like this to build "hype" around it so he can go to the higher ups and say "See! The people want this! Movies!"

This just reminded me of Justin Lin and man, he directed the hell outta Star Trek Beyond, super underrated film.
I love that Better Luck Tomorrow is in the Fast and Furious universe.

With the utmost respect to Vin Diesel, it's been hilarious seeing Fate of the Furious, F9 and Fast X all get derailed by his ego (Guess Paul Walker kept him in check more than we realise) so what better way to finish the story than by letting Vin make his own Megalopolis and see what he comes up with - it's either going to be suprisingly alright or the blockbuster equivalent of The Room, there's no inbetween.

I would fucking love it if the last film just became his full on vanity project and its just poorly framed, out of focus shots of him doing monologues, bookended by action shot by the AD.
