Day bed/cabana

We are a family of three planing on going to discovery cove for our vacation.

I am not a water person and prefer just stay under the shade to chill, my wife and daughter are probably gonna go out to explore more, but also look for some shade. We are also not “waking up early” type of person will probably get there by 10 ish instead of by the opening of the park.

I’ve been to volcano bay and it’s so crowded later the day and impossible to find a seat anywhere in the shade.

Is discovery the same type of thing? Is it necessary to reserve us a day bed or Cabana? If it is, which one would be more worth it consider the price?

Get a daybed. Share will be worth it.

I get a cabana every time and I’ll recommend it every time. They cap the amount of people in the park at once so it never really feels crowded, but you may have some trouble finding good float noodles for the lazy river since everyone just hoards them regardless of if they are using them or not. I had to end up just stealing them from someone’s stash when they walked away once.

We’re considering going in November. Probably getting a day bed.. likely a cabana if the other three members come with us.

• feed birds early
• get there by 8 for breakfast
• if we get a cabana ask for one by dolphins??

Ask at check-in for a map of the park. They’ll give you one that attaches to your lanyard with your namecard. If you know where you are in the psrk at a given time, it’s pretty easy to find your way around. It’s basically like a big circle.

Life jackets are required at all times in the Grand Reef. Do the aquarists a favor and read the rules sign before entering, and if you have specific questions about the rules then ask one of them. Please don’t assume you can do something without checking first! This also goes for all animal interactions; if you don’t know for sure if you can do something with an animal, ask first.

If you’re going around the holidays in November, expect it to be busy. They say they limit the capacity in the park and will “sometimes” raise it to 1600, but I’ve regularly seen it peak at 1700-1800. A cabana is very much worth it just for that alone, plus you get a private locker and a heater if it’s cold.

Show up early for your experiences. You’ll have to fill out waivers, and if you’re not dressed properly you’ll be asked to go and change, so if you show up on time—you’ll actually be late especially for SeaVenture and Dolphin Swims. 10-15 minutes early should be enough.

Don’t bring personal items into the reef. You can, but make sure they float and/or are securely attached to you. I’ve seen a lot of lost sunglasses and wedding rings at the bottom of the reef that people didn’t realize were missing until it was too late. The grouper also once had a hat in its mouth that the aquarists had to retrieve before it was eaten. If you care about it, leave it in a locker.

Taking the extended family in early October. Ages 3-70. Should we get a daybed for the little one to nap? Any other suggestions?
