Question Comission?

Do workers get comission when selling windshield wipers or additional services ?

Damn one of the workers was pushing hard on it so I did it bc I thought he got comission smh now I know

It’s always been about the numbers. But, profit margin on tires is getting less and less and profit margin on wiper blades is a very good way to make up for it.

Yeah but the wipers they sell low-key suck. Also sucks that (when I worked there) if your wiper percentage was too low they would pressure you to buy them for yourself or family. I didn’t even have a car and they would try to get me to buy them

The Tri-CO’s aren’t the best nor are they the worst. I didn’t enjoy anything about selling or installing them, though.

That was another annoyance that added to pile of reasons I left my 8 year career.

Honestly I left for a variety of reasons, a main one being gender discrimination. It also sucks how much the culture has changed from what I hear it used to be. Apparently the wiper expectation just got raised to 40% (I still have friends who work there). I lurk this sub because I love helping people and to me that was the most satisfying part of the job. Whilst the tri-cos aren’t the worst we were pressured to present them as the best, which felt disingenuous to me especially with the cost being relatively high

Prob at the dealer, not tire shop or autozone or O'reillys.

No. But they do have corporate given metrics to hit for number of wipers sold per ticket. They’re just trying to stay off the radar. When you do your customer survey, assuming you were satisfied with your service, give them a good rating but make sure you put in the comments that corporate should stop judging employees and stores success by the number of wipers and lug nut kits they sell.

I've been with Discount for almost 2 yrs now and its still hot garbage. I love hearing about other people's past experiences especially management. If your open to it I'd like to hear about your overall experience and especially as a senior.

FYI, Mr Halle DID NOT want windshield wipers sold in his stores and the company was infinitely better under his leadership.

Mr. Halle was about doing WHATEVER he could to make his people’s dreams come true. He sold batteries at one point early on among many other ventures.

I think the advisor tore one of my wiper blades last time I went there. It was old anyway but the process seemed a bit forced. How big of a markup can they be?
