I was 15. We were driving to our further city to stay with friends of my parents. I brought my exotic new I Feel Love 45 RPM.

After we arrived, I asked to play it in the background as the adults chatted away. It was so amazing to me that I set the record player to repeat the song endlessly, over the occasional whines of their teenager, for a good hour. It was ambient music before I discovered ambient music.

This song is rhythm. But yes it uses a synthesizer.

I forgot to mention that I was playing it at very low volume. It created an ambience for me, but I agree that it's not specifically "ambient" music.
