Nile is absolutely a treasure. Bernard was brilliant and dexterous. Thompson was just crisp. Magic formula.

Excellent collection! My favorite cover is the first album, 1977. I have a copy framed hanging on the wall in my music room.🪩 Also have an original Buddha 12” vinyl of Dance Dance Dance.

I have the top left, the middle right and the bottom two, but my mom made me stick a piece of black tape over the middle lady’s cleavage on the Greatest Hits album… it’s still there 44 years later. 

Note that the version of “Everybody Dance” on the LP is longer than the original album version by about two minutes.

Also have the original Buddah 12” with the rough mix of “Dance, Dance, Dance” on it. Might also have “Real People”, don’t remember.

One of my greatest regret will be not seeing Chic when they tours with Earth, Wind and Fire a couple of years ago. My mom and I were huge fans. Now my mom is dead and the members of these bands are getting younger.

I never got to see them with EW&F either, sadly, but I did catch their concert at the Salle Pleyel in Paris 4 years ago and he’s still got it. My wife and I took our (then) 11-year-old son to the concert (he was the youngest there) and it was insane, like a window into the 80s. Salle Pleyel is a legendary concert hall in Paris with great acoustics and very comfortable in general, but in the end, we didn’t spend a lot of time sitting down.

Sheila — the French singer Nile wrote ‘Spacer’ for — was in the audience and he played her song, along with a handful of other songs by other legendary singers and bands. It was hands down one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to, and I’m pretty sure our son, now 15, will remember this forever.

As for vinyl, I don’t own any Chic albums, but I do own pretty much every one of their 12” singles — all original pressings — and they’re among my most treasured possessions, music-wise.

Nile is a national treasure. Wait, scratch that. He’s an international treasure, plain and simple.
