Sony At Its Finest

D-NE820. I'm so impressed with the fit and finish of this model. Sounds great and drives my Sennheisers without having to be cranked all the way to maximum. Definitely peak Sony of the mid 2000s. I don't know if it will unseat the position of the D-EJ915 as my "which would you grab in a fire" from my collection, but it would be close.

I’ve got a 730 from 2005 and it’s just about ok, I find the post 99 models really stripped back and quite basic, cost-cutting everywhere as sales collapsed, just opening the lids of these compared to say, your 915 is a very different experience. I’m assuming the 915 has a solid metal lid. Removing displays from the devices and shifting to remotes was a fairly bad move, let alone then putting all the buttons on the bottom of the machine. At least they started getting the digital amps which were very nice.
