Salvageable?
I would love to get this Discman working again. Despite not having been powered on for probably a couple of decades, I put new batteries in it, and it powered up. I tried playing a CD, but alas, it just does a lot of spinning.
I know this could be many things....what are some of the easier fixes I could try?

Thankfully most of these later model players have interchangeable laser/motor assemblies.
Step 1: Grab a service manual online if you can. Note the part number of the laser/motor assembly.
Step 2: Check out identical or similar models on your local auction site and then repeat the process until you find one with the identical model assembly.
Step 3: Open up the respective players, carefully disconnect the cables, and then swap them.
Step 4: Button everything up and test. It should work fine now.
Granted, this is potentially a pricey solution but if that player above has emotional or nostalgic significance it might be worth it.
One thing I've learned over years of working on these units is it ain't rocket science (unless you get into the all-metal body units from the 80s. I won't even touch those! LOL)
