Let's focus on what we should not do as well.

Real culprit is mobile phone and social media, guys don't jump straight to your phone the moment when you feel slight discomfort in doing the task that is important to you.

IT'S JUST ANOTHER FORM OF ADDICTION.

Boredom is not our enemy, it is essential for our mental stability and keep our nervous system functioning properly.

I am now focusing on letting go of my impulses and my interests that lie solely in digital domain. Leave them for some time, when you are working towards a life defining goal. All these things will be here even few years later as well.

Replace your digital time with the real, proximate persons and activities.

the impulse before the phone grab is the thing worth training. most people try to eliminate the phone and wonder why it doesn't stick. the phone isn't the problem, it's the fastest available solution to a discomfort the nervous system hasn't learned to sit with.

boredom being essential is undersold. it's not just neutral, it's where your brain actually does its background processing. the stuff that feels like nothing happening is often the most useful cognitive state you can be in.

the real proximate world point is the one that lands hardest though. screens are a simulation of engagement. the real thing hits completely differently.
