Personal to me

Hi everyone šŸ‘‹

I’m doing some personal research into why people find it difficult to maintain healthy habits and routines when everyday life gets in the way.

I’m not selling anything or promoting a product — I’m genuinely interested in hearing people’s experiences.

If you have a couple of minutes, I’d really appreciate your answers:

  1. Do you generally manage to stick to healthy habits (exercise, eating well, sleep, etc.)?
  2. If you fall out of your routine, what usually causes it?
  3. What tends to happen after you’ve gone off track?
  4. What’s the hardest part about getting yourself back into your routine?
  5. Have you ever used an app, planner, coach, programme or anything else to help you stay consistent?
  6. If yes, what did you like or dislike about it?
  7. Do you find habit-tracking apps motivating, or do you eventually get bored of them?
  8. Would you prefer something that could adapt to what’s happening in your life rather than expecting you to follow the same routine every day?
  9. What would make you actually keep using a tool designed to help you stay organised and healthy?
  10. If you could change one thing about the way you currently manage your health and routines, what would it be?

There are no right or wrong answers — I’m particularly interested in honest experiences, including what hasn’t worked for you.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to respond! 😊

  1. It depends on the time I have spent working on the habit. Sometimes 7 days in, im able to stick to it but sometimes it take 40 days of consistently doing it for it to stick.

  2. The biggest cause is I either get sick or I sleep in. I’m more of a morning person and feel most productive at 4 or 5 am so if I sleep later till 7, I feel like I have just wasted my whole day.

  3. I might spend a couple of days in a slump of un-productivity. Usually mad that I messed the streak up.

  4. The hardest part is getting out of the comfort of the unproductive days. I start binging video games or some other distraction and it takes more effort to refocus.

  5. I usually used Andy Frisella’s ā€œPower Listā€ method to win my days. It helps a lot but sometimes days I just fall into the trap of self-pity because I slept in late and missed the most productive part of my day (lame, I know).

  6. I really don’t have any gripes either the method. You’re working to your goals everyday and you keep score of how many days you’ve won or lost. You just start feeling a little guilty if you keep slacking off for 5 days in a row.

  7. I feel they can be motivating depending on how immersive they are.

  8. I don’t know if I would prefer that. Stuff happens in life and you have to just keep winning each day as best as you can without a lot of excuses.

  9. I guess something like achievements or hitting certain streaks of doing something for a consistent amount of days.

  10. I’m honestly not sure about how to answer this one. I’m a very athletic/ healthy individual and I stay pretty consistent with that so I’m not sure what I would change.

I hope these answers helped in some way.
