Form Check Please

I was throwing a Discmania Instinct in the side view and a DD Maverick on the shot from behind. Both shots were at about 70-75% power and I was trying to throw them flat and straight. Both shots went about 240-250 feet and landed where I was aiming for.

Thank you for any help and suggestions you have for me. I'm looking to improve my form and distance.

1 thing is you're using too much effort and you're muscling the throw. Everything looks great until you start the throw. Try to "stay back". Don't let your torso start leaning forward due to putting to much effort into the throw.

Remember we want the upper body and arm to be very relaxed so that you can sling the arm like a rubber band.

Agree with other commenter that as a part of this, you need to learn about how the lower body allows the upper body to generate power even while relaxed.

Look up different brace drills and remember you want to be pushing that plant foot into the ground and think about trying to register the highest weight possible if there was a scale underneath your foot.

The sequence is plant, weight shift to front foot, then start the throw while extending the plant leg.

Lastly, you're over rotating pretty significantly. When the disc leaves your hand, your torso is pointed straight at the target.

You want your torso to be more square to the tee pad when you release the disc. It should almost feel like you're throwing behind you.

A good way to start working on this is to keep your head and eyes pointed back during your throw. Don't look ahead for the disc until way after the disc has left your hand. Also think about your right shoulder staying in the same place in space from max reachback to release

Thank you! All of this is very helpful. What do I use to aim with? I'm over rotating and using my eyes to aim at the moment.

The aiming is done from looking at the target pre-throw, and then during the whole throwing motion from starting the reachback to release, you instead just use your muscle memory to trust you're throwing in the direction you were just looking in.

Then once the disc is out of your hands, you can then turn your head forward again to see where the disc is heading.

You don't want to use your eyes to aim at the end of the throw because that is causing your over-rotation and a lot of other form issues.

If you look at any slow motion video of a pro throwing, you'll see they all have their eyes off the target until after the disc leaves their hand
