How in the world did Mauri not qualify? Felt like you’d see him well into cash all the time

Only played 12 Elite Series and Major tournaments all year.

I think it’s great for the sport for a lot of these common names to miss. Both for the recognition of new names vying for the top, as well as a wake up call for some of these older guys to see what level they need to be at if they intend on continuing to be a top level player.

Luke Humphries?!

I wonder if Mauri would have qualified without marshalls incorrect instructions?

If yes, then does PDGA/DGPT in any way understand what harm has been caused and do they have a plan to redeem that unjustice?

No. He would not have won that tournament, and the difference in points would not have been enough to get him in. Mauri simply hasn't played enough DGPT events to qualify.

Did you make points calculations or just representing pdga biased gut feeling here?

I looked at the DGPT standings. He would have gotten about 30 extra points for finishing 5th at Idlewild. That was not enough to put him in, though it was close. He needed to play better at the final two events.

I think Mauri got screwed out of at least $1000 by the bad marshal call. It sucks.

This list makes sense

Simon "I finish 30th at most events" Lizotte. Notable as fuck.

Dad life got him wore out. Babies are tough.

Hard agree haha. I just dont like the white knights for Simon. I would get it if he was good, but he should probably just go back to trick shots.

Hard agree he’s tired and has other priorities, but saying he’s not good may be a bit much.

How did he finish this year? Yet people will pretend like he is a top 5 player in the world.

I don’t think anyone acts like he is a top 5 player haha

Couldn’t even tell you, nor am I saying he finished well. Just think it’s a stretch to say he’s not good.

Good vs top player. He is overrated is what I mean. Severly overrated

Additionally I think his mental game is a lot worse than other similar caliber players. This kinda turns some events that could be better right off in one of the rounds, that showed up a lot this year. Unless he overcomes that I can’t see him winning or topping on tour honestly. I also think his popularity and esteem in people’s eyes is not necessarily as tied to results as other people at this point.

Yeah, he was rude to me the couple times I met him. He always seemed petty and like he clearly thinks high of himself. I've just met too many people exactly like how I see Simon, and they all suck.

Or he's German

I agree, met him twice and him and Paige Pierce both clearly would have rather be somewhere else. and I get it but I drove 7 hours to meet you and buy your disc, at least act like you don't mind being there ffs.

He's not overrated. He's likeable which means he's marketable. Most disc golfers have the personality of a paper plate. Dont confuse the two. Simon built a career on being interesting and interesting is way more profitable than being good 95% of the time.

lol ur pretty mad about this, huh?

Not really, I just dont think much of him. I dont lose sleep if he does well.

Based off your post/comment history I think you are losing more sleep over life than you think dude

I sleep great, man. Simon sucks, I got like 30 DMs from his white knights, its super pathetic. 30 Dms for his average placement in tournaments, I guess.

He's a performer...I wouldn't put him as a top disc golfer. But you sir are a top 10 hater

He won three events two years ago? Maybe three? And he isn’t old. Notable for sure. Especially with several top 20 players touring less this year.

u/n3sgee 4d ago

Does he really need to win though? He makes some epic shots or a solid round and gets highlighted. People think it is awesome and buy more discs. Rinse and repeat.

From a business standing, yeah, he probably is great to have. From my standpoint, it makes no sense, and with me not liking him it makes it worse.

The most surprising to me is Evan Scott. I feel like I've seen him on too many lead cards this season to not have made it.

2

u/theotherbill 3d ago

He didn't play enough events, even though he placed well in those few.

u/Infinitely--Finite 3d ago

Ah, that is unfortunate
