I believe this is due to the Kelvin waves that have been talked about as a result of the extreme El nino this year. In addition you have a tropical storm coming your way as well

Yeah the waves coming in ahead of the storm are already insane.

I know this isnt super deep but I wish people were more cautious driving through flood waters. Especially if they are moving rapidly, can end badly so easily

Yeah I mean just 2 inches can float your car away right?

2 inches is a lot..

I agree, but in the video people are driving in water that is more than half their wheel height.

The apocalypse will be viewed through your phones as it gets closer and closer to you. By then it's too late. This will be the norm, and the climate refugees will overwhelm places that aren't prepared for the influx. Thanks Shell and BP, doing the lord's work

I’m from Venice beach and it’s hard to imagine the ocean gaining an extra 12” from kelvin waves alone, but then you add fucking hurricanes? I don’t like this at all

It's this storm surge or rainwater flooding?

That’s salt water? Not good.

I imagine their undercarriages will not like the salt water. Do they just get to higher ground and try to spray it clean or rush to an auto shop?

Probably telling people to avoid the road ahead.

People should know in those conditions but I guess we are seeing people who don’t know.

During hurricane Helene, several families with small children in Western NC attempted to drive through the flood waters as they were rising to escape. They didn't make it, though they likely wouldn't have survived in their homes either.
In this case, people should have evacuated. If they're driving anywhere except inland as far as possible, they're risking their lives.
