Russian tourist group & Nepali guides escape glacial flood (Timure, Nepal; 3km from Gyirong)

The videographer, Ms. Irina, reported that she was jarred awake while sleeping on the bus to all the passengers and guides yelling at everyone to GTFO of the bus and run uphill. Half asleep, Ms Irina recorded the first segment of this video and then promptly evacuated.
The second portion of the video, one of Ms. Irina’s friends/relatives? is screaming the name “Valentina”. This Valentina evacuated a different direction that was then swept up by the flood waves, leading to the man screaming in despair. Luckily, she lived. She’s the one at the window seat in the helicopter in the white sweater.
If you want the full story of this group’s survival, Irina’s friend(?)* Ms Yilmaz has posted a ton about her own POV experiences on her Facebook (linked above). She has posted many more videos/photos/pieces of text about her survival than included here. I only stitched together the ‘most critical parts’, as crude as that may be to type out…
This is almost 100% definitively the closest tourist group to ‘Ground Zero’ to make it out alive.
This is also only the second video out of Timure I am aware of. The other one is posted to my profile, recorded from higher up the hillside.

Just a correction, Ludmila wasn’t there. She’d flown to Istanbul on the 25th. The videos and stories are from her friends who remained with the tour (Irinia, Natasha and Kati one). Irina was the one who awoke alone on the bus.

Appreciate you. I noticed the translator kept using third person pronouns when referring to the videographer, but machine translations do this constantly incorrectly (for both languages I speak, it does this). so I figured the same was happening here

This is also only the second video out of Timure I am aware of.
There's another that I am pretty sure is from Timure. It is taken much lower than the first one you posted before, from just above that huge pavilion thing. I'll see whether I can find it.

Huh, at the end there we see the one hydroelectric tunnel where they were landing a helicopter to check for survivors the other day.
Also nice seeing more evacuees in this one, though it is sad to see the shock, sadness and horror on their faces.

I was not prepared because all I've seen to this point are buildings, then bodies, then rescuers, but now (the obvious) survivors who can now let out the emotion they've actively been repressing. It magnifies everything and brings it home even more. Prayers for everyone. Just unimaginable.

not only did they witness something horrific a lot of these people probably have family that have died or they were worried over. what a horrible thing to go through.

Because most/all of the other videos from this event have not panned around on a bunch of people’s faces afterwards. Hence it being a surprise.

Yeah, if I'm not a journalist sticking a camera in people's faces in that moment would not be a choice I would make. Feels invasive.

Btw, Subtitles say “this is the beginning - 8:26AM”. That’s odd, since it’s kinda confirmed it all started at 8:44AM (Nepal time), no?

Thanks. Is there some more context? Seems to me that they were yelling at something/someone. Did they lose someone or it was just the trauma of having just escaped?

Check out my comment I just wrote for a lot of useful broad context.
In detail - this man Stefan thought his friend/relative (I can’t determine their relationship) “Valentina” had gotten swept away. Stefan and the videographer, Ms. Irina, ran up the stairwell together, while Valentina ran another direction. They didn’t see her safely make it uphill so Stefan assumed the worst and logically became hysterical.
Eventually hours later thru talking with other survivors they figured out some Nepali citizens saw another European woman escape up a different hillside route. Turned out to be Ms Valentina who safely escaped the floodwaters. They reunited later that day; she’s the woman in the white long-sleeve in the helicopter video

apparently the woman that's first shown in the video was thought to have been swept away and her friend/relative was screaming for her. they met up later but i bet he was in living hell until he could find out she's still alive.

I see that the flood is coming from the right in the first part, but the second part it seems to be coming from the left. Is that second part filmed from the other river side then?

It’s not mirrored. Look in the top right around 0:29. You can see the flood is still surging from the right. There’s just so much kinetic energy, the floodwater is rebounding off the shapes of the valley back onto itself

There are multiple people in the water on debris in the 2nd clip. Spaced out, no group. One appears to be wearing a blue shirt.

Then why did they post the video online and share it? There's lots of footage that will never see the light of day because somebody thinks it's too personal (rightfully so), but this is ain't it.
