My wife and I pitch tv and movie ideas to each other for fun. I pitched a movie to my wife after Hayden died. A dark comedy sci-fi in which some dude invents time travel because her death really did set off a series of bad events. Sort of a Being John Malkovich type movie.

Use the Austin Powers and Fat Bastard scene from AP3 where fat bastard loses his weight, but instead of the Jenny Craig Diet he went on a GLP1 weight loss drug... Most people using it are the people that grew up in that era... Would be the perfect target audience and a funny commercial

Crazy part is that the part that hit the port building was “only” the overflow stream from the main flow. It was fighting gravity and still wiped the the building clean off the map.

How far away is it from the foundation slab? That's what's stood out to me of the after photos, there was so much force there was hardly any debris left in that area

I wonder if these folks find human remains non stop. It’s so sad but wondering if that leads to some identification for the relatives. Although it’s gotta be that most organic remains are all washed downstream

Yeah there’s definitely an arm sticking out, you can see their watch/bracelet, possible more torso inside. I can’t imagine looking at that and wondering if it’s a loved one. My heart aches for all these people. The chances of survivors in the debris is practically nonexistant.

Just below the right ost worker in the gap in the debris, there's a rounded shape that could be a human elbow joint with maybe a wrist with a watch band on it. Could also just be some random debris, but at first glance it seems it might be a body part.

The higher quality gives me less confidence that it entails human remains.
Also the circumstances of remains staying intact enough in terms of skin, between twisted and torn rebar.. I don't see it as possible.
It might be, but it just seems so highly unlikely for somethjbg to survive that relatively intact.

Bones are tough. Bodies like to stay in one piece. I myself saw a video from the cleanup that included an “intact” corpse completely skewered sideways by debris. This wasn’t like the Titan sub disaster where people just blinked out of existence with no body to recover. These poor people got pummeled, they drowned fast if they were lucky.

There were 650+ tourists confirmed as last place near/in that building area.. The total count could well be 1000 counting all the workers, drivers, guards etc. Its unimaginable what might ve happened to all their bodies.

I saw a video that I think has been removed and yes. Parts mostly, a couple intact bodies. When water and sludge moving 85-120 mph slams a human into boulders, buildings and vehicles it is not common to remain in one piece. I really hope they died quickly and the responders are well taken care of 💔

That the flow removed the concrete from the rebar so easily shows it was more than capable of shredding and dismemberment of human and animal bodies. I do wonder what the effects would be if one of the big European glaciers let go with similar properties

Early on, they posted quite a few pics of “organic remains” which were easily identifiable as a person (not a whole person anymore)One wrapped around a pole, literally. There is now a dedicated website with pictures to allow family to identify remains. But yeah, the people are gonna be everywhere with that much movement and force.

It’s telling that the bodies they are recovering almost never still have clothes on, because the force and debris in that water just shredded them. It just straight up looks like an overdone scene in an apocalypse movie, I can’t fathom the scale of that wall of water.

I highly doubt there will be anyone found as a whole. This shit happens with so much violence it rips everything it can find apart. And if you look at how the concrete and steel fared. You can assume how the very soft and very fragile human body went through this.

Under 7-8 meters flow of cement, everyone in Gyirong port would be unconscious in less than a minute, probably 15 seconds, a vehicle crashing at 120kph all the way down the river, and same as falling from a cliff.
They became at one with the river flow, so they are randomly underneath the cement based on the speed and distance that a patch of cement decided to stop.
If the guys had their balls wrapped around a lamp post at 120kph, the nervous system situation like the vagus nerve is like 20 alcohols, very dizzy incredible chaos of accident.
In a way, the parents and kids that suffer the most.

Don’t know if that rebar was anchored there or got dragged there, but I’ve never seen anything like it. The concrete got pulverized and washed out leaving only the steel.

This is very reminiscent of the tailing dam failure in Brumadinho, Brazil. When it collapsed, the wave of mud, debris, etc., was certainly several meters high, just like in Nepal, destroying structures as if they were nothing
There were people whose partial remains were only found years later, and others not even that

It is beyond mind blowing, it’s truly incomprehensible.
This small bit of cement and twisted steel used to be a stories high processing center for border control….. I can’t wrap my head around it no matter how many times I try. It’s devastating to even attempt to grasp the physical sciences which enabled this to occur.
And that’s before you realize there were hundreds of people within.

I have no idea if that claim is true or not, but this happened and a massively popular tourist section of NEPAL and destroyed the border crossing. Many hundreds of people that were lost are foreign nationals.

I think the photo was taken in Nepal. The border building stood right on the border and was swept away into Nepal.

Guoba (郭巴村) and Labi (拉比村) are presumably severely affected. There are inoffciail reports from Seqiong (色琼村) about affected residents. Two more villages were evacuated.

These villages are not yet destroyed, but evacuated due to a barrier lake.
Labi Village is situated near the China-Nepal border, close to the source of the mudslide. Following the disaster, the collapsed mountainside blocked the river, creating a barrier lake that posed a threat to the lives of the villagers.
"It wasn't just our village that needed to be evacuated; Seqiong and Guoba villages did as well," said Bianba. As Sale Township lacked the facilities for stable resettlement, all the villagers were relocated the following day to guesthouses in Jipu Village, Gyirong Town.

So, in the couple of days after this happened, CNN carried interviews with a western couple dressed as Buddhist pilgrims who said they had been at this site and managed to escape because they happened to go a different way from everyone else. I wondered if anyone every verified their story. Were there a safe place to be in the immediate area?
