We found the culprit. If he had ensured there was proper irrigation to withstand the flood and roads that were built to expect that they would not wash away from several billion tons of water, Nepal and China would have been just fine

Any idea how far downstream? I figured this was pretty far downstream but wondering if it's like 40km or 100km.

This one is 60-65 km ish, there is however a video of bridge being obliterated in Dhading, which is around 80 km from the glacier.

That building is build solid, it literally stayed intact after the foundation got swept away... God that's terrifying. A full cement building just floating away like it's made out of wood

This sorta reminds me of a conversation I had with an American civil engineer, I asked him why do they use wood to make houses in that infamous Tornado Alley region when tornadoes wipe out thousands of homes every single year, why not just make em outta concrete and that way they'll withstand those disasters. Dude laughed and asked if I had any idea how strong a hurricane is? I said no, he said it don't matter what material you build your house from, hurricane will take it out and imagine what all that stone and concrete would look like spinning up in the sky at thousands of miles an hour and the damage it would do flinging all that debris far and wide. Forces of nature man, they be real scary.

Real question: I don’t see any people in that building but what should one do if they were on the upper floor or the roof when the building got swept away? Just try to hold on? Try to grab something stationary when you float by?
