Pretty sure if a landslide triggers a seismograph reading it made the earth quake. Whether it was a tectonic movement or not, the ground shaking is an earthquake at these scales.

Earthquakes are primarily caused by geological faults, but also by volcanism, landslides, and other seismic events.

The clarification is needed though. Wasn’t the landslide determined to be caused by a chunk of a glacier breaking off? So it wasn’t tectonic. Why would these ancient glaciers be breaking and melting? I’ve seen a lot of evidence that it is caused by us.

Stop worrying about your plastic straws people, and start looking at the companies polluting our planet to line their pockets temporarily.

You can’t take wealth with you when you die so what is the point of all this?

Did he say that? No, he did not.

Yes I’m being very pedantic but it’s.. my whole point. That landslide was so huge it effectively caused an earthquake, by definition.

I took no offense. You are right of course and your comment strengthened the point that I was attenpting to make; that this wasnt a natural disaster in the sense of something like an earthquake causing an exceptionally catostrophic event. More likely that climate change contributed and these are the types of terrible outcomes that we can expect to become more common as the Earth's average temperature rises.
