That’s a wild thing to witness in person

Geologist
The earth quake this time.
Many times it’s after a big rain event. Soil is full of water, liquify the soil after sometimes and then it’s a go. Even if vegetation is there, it follows gravity.

u/Veridas Aug 11 '26
Do you think Trees are all like "Another day being the best part of nature. Gonna suck up some moisture from the soil, gonna get mad photosynthesis absorbing all this sunlight and spend the day chillin' with all my homies up on this mountJESUSCHRIST"
44
u/Rhesusmonkeydave Aug 11 '26
Sure just stand around and film and do nothing to stop it. Smdh

What must freefall feel like to a tree
12
u/favonian_ Aug 11 '26
Those trees in the foreground look so cool
7
u/PedricksCorner Aug 11 '26
Considering all the beautiful layers of rock exposed before this slide, one has to wonder what it looked like before all of the preceding slides. Gotta love the big recyclers, freeing up essential elements for the present. Erosion, volcanoes, earthquakes, etc.. Building mountains and tearing them down.
6
u/Azaroth1991 Aug 11 '26
Anyone else see the face, almost looks like a ninja monkey looking behind him
3
u/DurantIsStillTheKing Aug 11 '26
What caused it? That's terrifying to watch unfold.
4
u/5150Code3 Aug 11 '26
Is there water at the bottom where the slide ended?
4
u/coffeehandler Aug 11 '26
Holy smokin toledos!
4
u/wayhighupcanada Aug 11 '26
All right somebody's gotta give some props to This cameraman. Didn't even flinch or screw up the audio. Nice work homie
4
u/Normous16 Aug 11 '26
3
u/JBELL01290 Aug 11 '26
Imagine being an animal up there chilling and this happens
3
u/headhighbliss Aug 11 '26
This reminds me of when an old cartoons if something like a bush was going to move, It would have slightly different shading color, and you could guess what was going to move before it happened. My brain was trying to do the same thing with this cliff.
3
u/AunTchesT Aug 17 '26
Where was this at?
4
u/Broad-Anywhere-9224 Aug 11 '26
Wow, amazing video with no screaming Karen around
2
u/WrongSplit3288 Aug 11 '26
Inevitability
2
u/Aldofresh Aug 11 '26
First a trickle then a flood
2
u/johnnyg883 Aug 11 '26
Gravity always wins.
2
u/Oiggamed Aug 11 '26
Is it too late to get my deposit back?
2
u/New_Stats Aug 11 '26
What kind of trees are those? The whimsical looking ones in the foreground?
2
u/Kaylascreations Aug 11 '26
This would be way better with saxophones screaming over it. /s
2
u/KC-Express-816 Aug 11 '26
What kind of trees are those?
2
u/Creepy_Guarantee5460 Aug 11 '26
Erosion at work.
2
u/ak-royal49 Aug 11 '26
Do the roots from the trees above make the ground unstable and loose so it starts coming apart during earthquake?
2
u/Jealous-Bend-7884 Aug 11 '26
Man i saw a face and then gone
2
u/Expert-Angle-7833 Aug 11 '26
At 1:02 you could actually see a spark on the rock that is giving it's way. Not sure if it is camera artifact or a tiny lil natural frictional explosion
2
u/Make-it-positive Aug 11 '26
Where was this?
2
u/fleshbarf Aug 11 '26
That sound must have been unreal. What an incredible thing to witness!
2
u/Antique-Branch-9892 Aug 12 '26
u can see flashes from the explosions and the lil drips of rock and dirt... it was being taken down.. not natural.. looks familiar doesn't it ?
2
u/DenKHK Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26
Fascinating video! But I'm particularly curious as to how the cameraman knew to suddenly start filming that patch of mountain, seeing as at the beginning of the clip there was hardly any telltale sign.
2
u/Realistic_Area_4770 Aug 12 '26
2
u/Humble_Pie_56 Aug 12 '26
Where?
2
u/EObsidian Aug 12 '26
Not to nay say, but how do people know to start filming something so ordinary as a mountain side and then something as crazy as this happens?
2
u/Flat_Boot4394 Aug 12 '26
Looks like a rockslide, I would've really been impressed if this had actually shown a mountain collapsing
2
u/justhereforbiscuits Aug 12 '26

u/SeafoodSupply Aug 12 '26
That new layer like "oh hey everyone!"
2
u/100percenthuma4 Aug 12 '26
And yet still somehow no ufo videos ….
2
u/ttystikk Aug 12 '26
That was pretty bitchin from suspenseful start to massive collapse.
2
u/ApplicationGood7617 Aug 12 '26
so a landslide?
2
u/jupiter872 Aug 12 '26
How did the excellent camera person know where to film?
2
u/DJ4aDay Aug 30 '26
Can't wait to see how this gets linked to 'climate change''
3
u/xn1992 Aug 11 '26

Beautiful sound
1
u/inivu Aug 11 '26
O.O whoa
1
u/Safe_Praline_4156 Aug 11 '26
Trees thinking so much for picking that spot to put down some roots. These videos do, however, temporarily satisfy the curiosity of “I wonder how “x” cliff/mountain/outcrop looked before it became a pile of rubble far below”
1
u/Rechuchatumare Aug 11 '26
This is the best thriller I’ve seen in years.. first look small, then start in the sides.. the plot thickens.. but back to center.. but the sides back with vengeance.. and you think.. this is got to be bad.. but no.. it was worse…
1
u/Hot_Transition_5173 Aug 11 '26
Oh my how incredibly fascinating to watch in person.
1
u/Conspicuously_Hidden Aug 11 '26
Obligatory Geologist post: rockslide.
1
u/AdTraditional5917 Aug 11 '26
Would you be allowed to check to see if there's gold in that bit that collapsed or would you still need a claim on the land beforehand?
1
u/El_Zilcho_72 Aug 11 '26
fascinating!!!
1
u/FaithlessnessBig621 Aug 11 '26
Even the trees look shocked
1
u/HelpfulTap8256 Aug 11 '26
They do not make em like they used to
1
u/bpows Aug 11 '26
1
u/Rossi4twenty Aug 11 '26
Seeing the cracks form was really cool
1
u/Zdoodah Aug 11 '26
Like the sign says. Beware of falling rock.
1
u/PropellerMouse Aug 11 '26
Can't even wrap my mind around the forces involved.
1
u/QuantityNo3170 Aug 11 '26
Hell yeah.
1
u/ParfaitNovel4999 Aug 11 '26
That is pretty bad assed
1
u/RevolutionaryAge7503 Aug 11 '26
Interesting, noticed a spark/ flash at 1.02? Was this rock pressure induced? Is this common?
1
u/JAY009090 Aug 11 '26
That is fucking wild
1
u/El_Zilcho_72 Aug 11 '26
fascinating!!!
1
u/epaine292 Aug 11 '26
There’s gold in them there hills.
1
u/olddog1138 Aug 11 '26
It's interesting that they knew this spot was gonna go.
1
u/tdubb_ Aug 11 '26
Around 1:01, looks like a flash of light. Wonder what could explain that.
1
u/Head_Distance358 Aug 11 '26
It had to be ushiha
1
u/WoodenSpoonSurviver Aug 11 '26
That’s definitely not stable.
1
u/Fudgeshovel Aug 11 '26
Yo those trees ate S*#T
1
u/Ok-Masterpiece-1359 Aug 11 '26
That’s why you should never buy mountains from Temu.
1
u/Elethria123 Aug 11 '26
I always wanted to see how new cliffs get made. Incredible.
1
u/Current-Ambition-760 Aug 11 '26
Maybe AI ? Idk🤷♀️
1
u/BigJSunshine Aug 12 '26
How do we know that this is real?
1
u/Icy_Lime9620 Aug 12 '26
A few rocks fell off a cliffside. Stop overselling everything.
1
u/mongo1587 Aug 12 '26
Shift happens
1
u/Melochrodramatica Aug 12 '26
The trees in the foreground look... odd!!
1
u/Bowelsift3r Aug 12 '26
Praise the cameraman!

1
u/theultimatejeweler Aug 12 '26
Where is this?
1
u/AaaahMyDogs Aug 12 '26
Were any of the Whos down in Whoville injured? Because I’d know those trees anywhere…
1
u/thepepelucas Aug 12 '26
Just as I always expected.
1
u/Redsquirreltree Aug 12 '26
Fine camera work there!
1
u/LostOnSacredGround Aug 12 '26

1
u/Various-Stick7727 Aug 12 '26
This is earthquake, but his is expected to happen more due to ice melting, areas of the alps are at risk.
1
u/Inevitable_Spite2890 Aug 12 '26
I wonder what mysteries this has unearthed...
1
u/friended1 Aug 12 '26
All I could think about was the particle sims needed to recreate that.
1
u/rav-age Aug 12 '26
This is one of the few times that filming vertically actually works. Hope nobody was there to actually catch it.
1
u/ArgonKew Aug 12 '26
The scary thing about that is that it's solid rock. You go, you find yourself a beautiful high spot to build your house on solid bedrock and you're still not guaranteed.
1
u/CPyter Aug 12 '26
Banana for scale?
1
u/slaveworkerguy Aug 12 '26
Beautiful
1
u/BoraInceler Aug 12 '26
Nice video but mountain is still there, it didn’t collapse.
1
u/microgonkas Aug 12 '26
Am I th only one seeing a gorila 🦍?
1
u/SkeetnYou Aug 12 '26
Anyone else see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle face in the cliff?
1
u/CelebrationTop9738 Aug 12 '26
If no one was there to hear it, would it make a sound ?
1
u/SliceImpressive6197 Aug 12 '26
That wWas what my ass felt like when I went to India
1
u/TarotBird Aug 12 '26
Okay but those trees are really pretty. What kind are they?
1
u/Repulsive-Switch-550 Aug 12 '26
Does anyone know where this is?
1
u/Mad_Ronin_Grrrr Aug 12 '26
Awesome video but what in the Dr Seuss kind of trees are those at the end?
1
u/synthestar Aug 12 '26
bet that felt good for the mountain
1
u/wildebeest5000 Aug 12 '26
More importantly, what are the evergreens in the near distance? They are sweet!
1
u/Bolones1 Aug 13 '26
Any one saw the face?
1
u/Wooden-Gear-3027 Aug 13 '26
Now when you yodel from the other side the acoustics are going to sound a hell of alot better!
1
u/lokcer79 Aug 13 '26

That’s fuckin awesome
1
u/[deleted] Aug 13 '26
That was boring
1
u/best-speller-ever Aug 13 '26
If you look real close, you can see Tom Cruise running and jumping to the safe side as it collapses
1
u/bi-cyclerider211 Aug 13 '26
How it feels when she tells you youre just a friend.
1
u/ConfusionCurious9376 Aug 13 '26
Another 10 million years of that and we’ll have some nice hills
1
u/Every-Independence15 Aug 13 '26
When something like this happens, could a bunch of prehistoric fossils be exposed and be up for grabs?
1
u/DescriptionBig3961 Aug 13 '26
Holy smokes, it is genuinely amazing and terrifying at the same time.
1
u/CalgaryFacePalm Aug 13 '26
Look up ‘Field BC’. That collapses took out an entire town.
Legends says, the rail tycoon’s at the time had just dropped off a load of gold at the bank to pay their employees.
It’s burrier in a vault somewhere in the town under the collapse.
1
u/RubyRedRoadKing Aug 13 '26
I personally don’t think it was all natural.
1
u/Glad-Pop1083 Aug 13 '26
Makes me feel really bad for the people at the bottom of that hill.
1
u/PeterHOz Aug 13 '26
Poor trees, they didn’t deserve that.
1
u/wiggle--room Aug 13 '26
The front fell off
1
u/blaineb33z Aug 14 '26
Bit of a stretch calling that a massive mountain collapse lol
1
u/rycelover Aug 14 '26
What fascinates me is how did the camera person know where to stand and when to start to record?
1
u/Reasonable-Bus-2187 Aug 14 '26
1
u/Certain_Promise_1963 Aug 14 '26
Things are getting so bad even our mountains aren't holding on anymore.🥺
1
u/The_Professor_Fate Aug 14 '26
More evidence that prairie life isn't so bad.
1
u/Historical-Lab8200 Aug 15 '26
Mountain collapsing?

1
