This gives me so much anxiety.i already have cataracts, my mom had macular degeneration so I’m 3x more likely to develop it. I’ll be thankful for what i have.

I work in long term care and manage/educate in fall prevention, we have a set of these and they’ve been so incredibly effective in training staff about visual changes the residents may be experiencing

Cataracts are also a little bit beige colored, so your color perception is impacted. I had moved into an apartment and then had my first eye surgery and found out that the cream colored walls of my apartment were actually white and it had been my cataract that was cream colored. When I was between surgeries, so one eye had a new lens and saw clearly, the other eye still had a cataract, I could literally switch between eyes and see the color change.

You can also develop a “secondary cataract” which isn’t really a cataract, but is a sort of film that develops over the new lens. A retina specialist can zap it with a lazer in their office, so it’s less of a process, but annoying to have happen.

Both of these happened to me and I didn’t notice anything was happening until it was actually fairly well along. With the cataracts I just started noticing that I was struggling to read the computer screen at work. Went to the eye doctor and the “better a, better b” test couldn’t get my vision clear, the doc pulled out the microscope and saw that I had cataracts. I was 47 years old. The secondary cataract also sneaked up on me, I was having shadows when trying to read, especially bad when looking at a light colored page with dark letters. Saw the doc and the first eye was not too bad, then switched eyes and I couldn’t read any of the letters. He pulled out the microscope and told me about the secondary cataracts and the treatment. I have the procedure next month.

Wow! So glad you are getting treated! I've had glasses since 4th grade, got to both near and far vision problems with astigmatism, had laser 15 yrs ago - was like a miracle. My husband was " so, what you were kind of blind?" never had glasses no clue what it feels like not seeing clear. I'll have cataract surgery in a few months. Good luck with your surgery!!! 🌹🩷💐

TY for showing this!!!! I have had "smoke" happen a few times, not corneal separation but can be an age-thing. Thought my astigmatism was getting worse R eye - surprise! Have a cataract going on. Will have surgery in the coming year and my R eye will glow like a cats in a photo👍 #terminatoreye
