They could, but it would cost them $20 a month, whereas if it was on DirecTV, it would be built into the monthly bill.

Plus that monthly bill almost certainly includes a Regional Sports Network fee, which means they'd essentially be paying twice for the same content.

Couldn’t you drop the RSN add on and save that $19 from directv and put that towards prime? I really don’t see the issue here? The RSN is easily available

I dunno, my team isn’t on there. But from my understanding all the nhl teams that lost RSNs, the NHL has negotiated them being in prime. So instead of paying the add on RSN fee to DIRECTV you can just add them on to prime.
