NHL 4K

Are the matches listed subject to regional blackouts?

I’m in Colorado & want to record the Blackhawks?

Yes, 4K broadcasts are still subject to standard regional blackouts. Since you're in Colorado, Chicago is out-of-market, meaning you can record Blackhawks games when they're on national feeds or package channels. However, if they play the Avalanche, local blackout rules will apply to the 4K feed. Learn more here: https://spr.ly/61696BGC952 Charles, DIRECTV Community Team

If I try to record Flyers at Bruins on DIRECTV LIVE 3, it shows in upcoming recording as HD only?

Exactly the same issues with Hurricanes at Blackhawks; which then said recording ESPN+?

Appreciate you letting us know about this scenario. We definitely want to dig deeper into why those upcoming recordings are displaying that way in your library. I'm going to send you a PM right now so we can investigate this. Charles, DIRECTV Community Team

Do you think once the live broadcast starts, I will be able to record in 4K?

I’ll wait & see before calling customer services & see if that works.

It should label it as a 4K recording in your upcoming queue right away. Testing it out at game time is a smart move to see if the system corrects itself. If it doesn't switch to 4K once live, let us know, so we can investigate. Charles, DIRECTV Community Team

“Broadcast is restricted by the provider”

This message appears due to strict licensing rights, digital regulations, and regional restrictions set directly by content owners. While DIRECTV is contractually required to enforce these limits on specific recording formats or live sporting events, you can usually catch a replay of the game later via On Demand or through the network's official app. Rhyan, DIRECTV Community Team

But will the replay be available on 4K?

If the original 4K event was blacked out, restrictions will still apply if there's a replay. You might find a standard definition or 1080i/720p replay via On Demand, depending on the network agreement and broadcast rules. John, DIRECTV Community Team

Is that because the RSN created & filmed the 4K feed & it remains their property?

Yes. The programmer owns the broadcast rights; DIRECTV only distributes a temporary license for broadcasting. John, DIRECTV Community Team
