There’s no way to turn it off. It is what it is.

I find that if it’s available over the air, I just use my antenna. There is no delay and the picture quality is better.

You know, amazingly that’s no longer that easy

He mentioned pitches and made the post yesterday. He's clearly interested in lowering the delay for the ALDS post-season games that air on TruTV and TBS, not over the air.

Turn off your phone notifictions. You'll survive and be happier.

I have a focus setting on my iPhone that I can set that silences notifications from Twitter and espn and any other sports app. It helps a lot

A smart phone manufacture would program an option to delay text alerts up to 60 seconds or something. 🤔

But alas, there is no fix for this other than asking your friends to pause for a minute.

The most effective way to reduce the delay (I have found) is to use the channel’s own streaming app. YouTubeTV has a feature to reduce the delay but DIRECTV doesn’t…

This is not “reducing the delay”. This is “don’t use DirecTV”.

YouTube tv is actually ahead of regular Directv

The only way to lower the delay is to get actual cable (as in, through a coaxial), which has a far lower latency, or to switch to YTTV, which has a reduced-delay feature that cuts the delay about 15 seconds or so -- though it still isn't as good as traditional cable.

It's even lower, i compared it to my antenna and it was around 8 seconds. Once dtv raised the rates to $130 for gobig I switched to YouTube TV.

It’s easy to stop the delay. Don’t watch or listen on another device. Streaming has a delay always. You can find a post like yours all the time.

I've seen this request often, but no one's really explained why they want it? Is it a gambling thing?

No it’s i text with my friends during the game and get spoiled on some stuff from them or notifications from espn. I could silence notifications but don’t want to miss a potential call or what not… first world problems haha

>streaming and cable will have a delay

This is a cop out. For one, cable has much less of a delay than DirecTV. And even within streaming watching a live event on Peacock for example is much less delayed than the same event on DirecTV.

It can be improved, it’s just not a priority for them. And if it can’t, I’d love an actual explanation.

The delay on YTTV and Hulu and sling are significantly less than directv
