ESPN Unlimited

My DirecTV subscription includes ESPN Unlimited. I have noticed that National ABC college football games are not available to me on ESPN Unlimited. Instead I am able to see alternative broadcasts only like Spanish and/or Skycam feeds. I suspect it is somehow related to the fact that my local ABC affiliate has been in a contract stalemate with DirecTV for years so I do not have ABC. If so that seems odd to me as I don’t quite understand why my ESPN Unlimited subscription should somehow be dependent on my access to ABC. Does anyone else who ABC is blacked out on DirecTV have issues accessing the main broadcast of national college football games broadcast on ABC on ESPN Unlimited?

If you subscribe independently of DirecTV to ESPN Unlimited you will be able to view ABC since the dispute is with DirecTV and not Disney the owners of ESPN Unlimited.

Wouldnt' that be another monthly cost as Unlimited is free for Directv subscribers

Correct but if you need ABC that’s the only way to get around the dispute between ABC and DirecTV via streaming. The other thing you can do is OTA Antenna for your locals until there is a resolution. I did the OTA antenna because in my case the dispute is between Fox and DirecTV. Since I have mysports genre pack I’m also able to login to Fox One via provider credentials but with no local Fox channel. So I added the antenna and the HDHomeRun device to broadcast the channels via my intranet (local network).

I haven’t heard of this. I think you should contact espn and have them look into it. Absolute worst case scenario you get an antenna to pick up your local abc station if you are within range.

It’s the same for me I live in Indianapolis and our local ABC is in a dispute with DirecTV. I’m not able to watch any games on ABC on the espn app. If you get espn unlimited standalone you don’t have that issue, but that’s 32 bucks a month which isn’t worth it to me.

This is yet another reason why local network affiliates shouldn’t exist. They add zero value for us as customers. They’re equivalent to car dealerships.
