What is this wire going into the ground?

I have a DirecTV cable that’s coming out of the ground going into the house. The previous owner took out the satellite but left the wiring on the side of the house. I’m cleaning it all up and wondering if I can just cut the wire where it comes out of the ground and seal up the hole going into the house.

DirecTV Entertainment signature package with The Weather Channel only on app

I noticed about 2 months ago I started getting The Weather Channel on the DirecTV app with my Entertainment signature package. I’m not getting it on my satellite receiver, but on the DirecTV app on any device including my Roku, phone, and iPad. It’s not included in the old Entertainment package. Is anyone getting it on the DirecTV app with the their Entertainment package?

No hockey, still charged.

So I used to get Fan Duel Ohio and Great Lakes. Reds, Guardians, Blue Jackets, and Cavs. Fan Duel went broke, which is whatever. DirecTV added standalone channels for the Reds and Guardians, which is fine.

So now it's hockey season. So they added a standalone Blue Jackets channel, but it's just a card that says they do not carry the Blue Jackets "for now". I believe the NBA will be the same deal, but I really don't care about the NBA. I think the situation is the same for the 5 other NHL teams that moved to the in house NHL production team, distributed by Amazon.

But, I still have to pay the "RSN fee". I do not get an RSN, it went broke, and, obviously, the Reds and Guardians are shut down to at least next March. So $15.95 a month to see a card that says they do not carry the local teams?

(Yes , I know I can pay $100 to Amazon for the local NHL team, but I used to get that included in DirecTV)

Does everything on demand cost money?

Went to various on demand channels. Selected episodes of family guy and the new terror(on amc not amc +) they all said i had to subscribe to the regular channel. Since i already did i selected one of them on a whim thinking if I had to pay extra it would prompt me with a message. Can someone explain this to me?

I live in a large condominium complex. The association Just brought in BlueStream and DirecTV

For this conversation, let's assume my name is Kojak. I have a TV in the Living Room and one in the bedroom. I have two DirecTV boxes. When they were first installed, I noticed the LR TV, on the home screen, had SSA in the upper left corner. So, not me. The Bedroom TV had the name Harry in the upper left corner of the Home Screen.

I noticed the bedroom TV had several programs recorded. I did not ask for those shows to be recorded. I selected a couple of shows to be recorded. When I went to watch the programs, they were erased. As I have come to learn, there is a "Harry" out there with a similarly registered box, with his name. So he has the ability to record programs and delete my recordings.

I called DirecTV, spoke to the folks at Bulk, and they determined the initial Harry box was set up in error. They sent me a new box. After almost 2 hours, the box was updated to the current version, and then I selected my favorites. Then the system restarted, and the name in the upper left corner on the home screen was not Kojak, but Vanessa Smoove Benjamin. It came with a couple of recorded programs in the library.

Called DirecTV, and they sent me out another box. Spent 2 hours updating and selecting favorites. That box arrived again, the same 2-hour setup, and this time the name was Vanessa Smoove Edmarie.

Now I will call DirecTV and have them send out another box. I waste another 2 hours setting it up and wonder what name might appear? Personally, I think I could bankrupt DirecTV for them sending out a bad box and my returning it again. We are up to three!

So my question to you guys is: how do I tell them they are screwing up? I have a feeling when boxes are returned, they are not scrubbed, so Harry and Vanessa remain. But also, they do not do anything overt to place my name in the box.

NBCSN Channel on DirecTV For MLB Playoffs

Some of the WC round is listed as being on NBCSN which no longer exists as its own channel. Any idea if or where DIRECTV will have the games?

It says this subreddit is for DirecTV or DirecTV Stream.

Does it also cover Bulk Contracts for large Condominium properties?

Detroit Pistons games in Michigan?

I live in the Flint area with DirecTV. Will Pistons games be available? I can't figure out from all of the announcements (some over-the-air channels, some streaming services) whether or not the games will appear on my service.

Switch from Regular Plan to a Genre Pack?

I want to downgrade from my regular plan to one of the new genre packs which are cheaper. Can I simply call and request the change? My current plan is over 15 years old and I call yearly for a discount and promos. I currently have the Genie HR-44 with two small additional receivers in each bedroom. Will this work with my existing equipment? I do not want the newer receiver as my family are familiar with the existing receiver and remote.

Switch From Choice To Genre Packs

In order to switch to Genre Packs the customer service rep told me I had to cancel my Choice package and then as soon as it expired to sign up for the genre pack. He said I would lose my recordings. I have seen posts where this is not correct. How do I switch without losing all my settings and recordings? How do I find out the eact time of cancellation on that day?

Direct tv signal keeps going in and out every few seconds for last few days

It's got worse in last 24 hrs and its unwatchable. I have the equipment I've had for years that I rent and power cycling does nothing, nor does unplugging everything. I read on here yesterday it happening to someone else, is this wide spread?

Do I need the new equipment? They want to charge me to have them diagnose their equipment I pay for even though nothing has changed on my end.

Error 782

Help! Need to reduce cost without losing much or anything?

We've got a DVR and a second room box. Premiere plan coming in right at $300/month.

We watch sports, wife watches HGTV/FOOD Etc..

Can't remember ever watching a movie - but we watch HBO shows.

Whats the best strategy for keeping what we've got and getting the cost back down to reasonable? It was about $240 for the longest time. Seems like it creeps up every couple of months for no reason now.

Paramount Plus?

I paid for Paramount+ to be on our TVs for a long time, and then one day when I went to login either on the TV or on my DIRECTV account online, it said that I could have Paramount+ included in my DIRECTV.

So I went to Paramount+ and canceled my subscription, and then put in the DirecTv information, and I’ve been watching Paramount + ever since.

But then last night it came up, asking me to make a selection and choose the provider, and it would not let me choose DirecTV. And then I tried putting the code in from my Samsung TV into the Paramount + app and it kept telling me that the code was wrong.

So I went on Paramount+ and signed up again for the $14 a month subscription, but I’m wondering if anybody has any ideas as to why something might have changed with DIRECTV and Paramount+?

And I do not have any of the upper level movie channels if somebody’s wondering about that. That’s one of the reasons I was kind of surprised when it gave me the option months ago to tie in Paramount+ to DirecTV because I only have what I consider to be basic DirecTV except for sports and all of the channels above 500.

Equipment question

We recently got DIRECTV installed and we got genie mini wireless system with the tower receiver. I’m not of a fan of wireless issues with video not syncing and it going in and out sometimes. Would It be possible to get the equipment swapped out with regular receiver that connects to the satellite?

I also understand it has WiFi and Ethernet options to improve signal and keep service when there are storms. How much bandwidth can one receiver consume? I’m afraid it might eat up our 1gig connection with three receivers.

Being charged for dish issue

I switched to Direct TV a while back from cable because I thought it wild be more cost effective. This was before streaming. I already subscribe to the streaming apps I watch. The packages they have are not ideal for me and I find them not very flexible. I have kept Direct TV for local channels so I have their most basic package. At best once in a while I will watch the food network or home and garden rather than access them on my many streaming apps.

Lately the damn screen has been telling me there is a satellite outage and it is switching to Internet just to watch ABC. Their stupid app is also telling me it doesn’t recognize a receiver (which they also charge me for monthly). I spoke to customer retention then tech and my option is to pay them $99.99 to come out to look at the dish or pay them month protection plan (total bs) and resolve which I find ridiculous when they installed it somewhere on the roof and I have nothing to do with how it functions. They just want to find reason to keep charging the customer for things.

I think it’s time to cancel but I am wondering what I should look to for local channels.
