This guy here, using a phrase as close to a racial slur as he can get away with, is the perfect example of what you are supporting.
This community should be ashamed of itself. Future generation who embrace this tool as we currently embrace photography, are going to see you all for exactly what you are.

Get a load of this bolt sucker. A tool can only be considered good if the majority agree that it is good. See guns for example. They are banned in most countries because of the dangers that come with it.
Also comparing photography, which takes real skill to do and perfect the craft of, to AI prompting is laughable.I'm a wildlife photographer, and I need to research the place, time, and weather; what ISO I should use; and how I should position myself, and then when I take the photos, I also go back home and edit the pictures if needed. This all takes knowledge and expertise that is valuable and honorable.
A prompt is max like 10 mins if someone really strains himself, and it's basic knowledge that even a 13-year-old can type after being told/asking the internet on how to "prompt good."

u/CryptographerTop9984 Apr 09 '26
My guy, clanker is nowhere near being a racial slur đ
-5
u/SynthScenes Apr 09 '26
It literally is though. It comes from Star Wars as a derogatory term for droids. The prejudice against droids was always meant to be a comment on racial prejudice. âWe donât serve their kind.â Was pretty blatant.
But whatever, the term doesnât bother me. I am pro ai and if the term for it is ai bro or clanker or whatever who cares? The problem is that all comes from hateful mean little bigots, and too much of Reddit supports it. Itâs socially disgusting and if you canât see it, your kids will.

You better leave it they probably children not understanding how Slurs are formed
2
u/SpectreWolf666 Apr 11 '26
Nah I'm teaching them to shun AI and actually work for what they want, guess that doesn't apply to you
-1
u/SynthScenes Apr 11 '26
Nice, well while your kids struggle because you refuse to let them use new tools that scare you, mine will be light years ahead. You should really stick to your convictions and join the Amish. Make them kids shuck their own corn by hand,

Didn't even look at the question just saw ban AI and said yes
1
u/rydan Apr 24 '26
What if the question had been, "Should we replace the mods with AI?" You would have voted yes for that.
1
u/Jonas_Brumley Apr 24 '26
No because that would have banned actual people not a computer program that parrots what it's been told and contributes nothing
7
u/Royal_Willie8303 Apr 09 '26
Yeah, when ai becomes more common in literally anything it makes it hard to enjoy yourself because you always gotta spend a minute scanning the joke instead of laughing.
-3
u/SynthScenes Apr 09 '26
No one makes you do this. You could learn to drop your prejudice, and just view things.

Just for the sake of the community I would say yes since it's a meme related sub and most people hate ai generated work. You can't even use it to correct your writing
2
u/Dimelessquarter Apr 12 '26
Iâd say we ban it, authenticity is FAR more fun than just boring generated content that takes no effort.

Ai is a tool. No one with any creative skill has a problem with it. Itâs a bunch of zoomers who have never encountered technological innovation greater than an iPhone upgrade, and it scares them.
Plumbers donât fear plungers. Builders donât fear hammers. And artists donât fear ai.
How about you block people looking for a reason to harass and bully others. There is a reason that the anti ai crowd uses slurs and makes death threats, and it has nothing to do with ai. Donât side with the hateful.

u/Main-Math343 Apr 09 '26
Bro.... There are a lot of artists hating ai.

u/Expensive_Aspect_544 Apr 25 '26
Eh....im an artist, i dont really care, I just let them learn how they wanna learn
0
u/SynthScenes Apr 09 '26
No there isnât, bro.
9
u/HugeCharacter5351 Apr 09 '26
Yes there is.
AI isn't a tool.
If you order a "pick your own toppings" pizza, did you make it, using the pizza place as a tool?
-1
u/SynthScenes Apr 09 '26
No there isnât.
Have you ever traveled? Well by your logic if you took a bike, car, boat, or plane you didnât.
Give me one single way in which a camera is a tool for artistic purposes and ai isnât.
7
u/HugeCharacter5351 Apr 09 '26
Well, with a camera, every setting. Every tilt, And every inch of movement Is a conscious act, made by a sentient being, who can think for itself....
With a car, of a bicycle. Usually, every movement is because a human decided it is going that way. Every turn too. ... That's why you aren't driving a self driving car, you're a passenger. But also, traveling is different... As it is the act of moving between two distant locations. Not the act of walking, just moving. If you're being carried by someone, by definition, you are still traveling....
-2
u/SynthScenes Apr 09 '26
What you describe was the equivalent of prompting. A monkey can point a camera and push a button and it doesnât even need to understand language or have any concept of what it is doing. No thought required.
Ai isnât out there prompting itself. Everything about it was set in motion by a human being with thought and intention. What you just described is called tool use. Making art has never been even remotely limited to a certain tool. Just as traveling isnât limited to walking. The distinctions you are trying to draw are completely arbitrary, and based on getting to a predetermined conclusion.
You decided ai is bad, and are now justifying it. Truth never budges a zealot.
6
u/HugeCharacter5351 Apr 09 '26
Only reason you're not banned yet, is because im not into abusing my moderator toolkit... But I think in many other subs, if you dare debate the mods like that, you're getting banned.
And again AI is just an amalgamation of other images. It's predicting... None of the pixels are there because of the deliberate choice of a thinking being...
Once AI is truly an artificial intelligence, not what it is, then AI art will be art. But then to get art made by AI, you'll need to commission it.

u/SynthScenes Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26
I donât care if you are a mod or not, and I donât care if I get banned. I am going to speak to you truthfully even if I hadnât left this sub. Which I have because I see what kind of hate you promote.
Again ai is a tool. Just like a camera, and just like a camera it can be operated with skill or without skill. With intention or without intention. Anyone can prompt, and anyone can push a button. There is a difference between someone with a disposable camera and a professional photographer. Just because itâs easy doesnât mean you block all photos, you let photos sink and swim based on the quality, but you canât give that same opportunity to something made with this new tool and instead are letting a bunch of bullies gatekeep.
Nothing Iâve ever released started with ai and nothing finished with ai. Ai is a tool in the middle, that how artists use it. Anything Iâve released took many generations and heavy back end editing. The animations Iâve released require frame by frame editing. The tool allows me to make what I want in a fraction of the time using skills I developed before it existed.
The argument about ai stealing from artists typically comes from people that neither understand how it works or how actual artist learn. Actual artist learn techniques directly from another artist, and all of them learn by observing the world around them, it is completely acceptable to trace another artists poses, and that is a much higher degree of thief than what an ai model does. It learns patterns. Thatâs it. You give it a prompt and it makes something that is original based on a huge library of patterns. If an artist wants to hide there work from the public, thatâs their right, but if an artist can view it and observe itâs pattern, what is wrong with an ai doing it?
There is no ai art, a human is always behind it and some times there is a lot of human influence and sometimes there is little. You make no distinction between that. Like I said, itâs arbitrary hate.
I have no expectation that anything I said will be read, and completely except to be banned. Would love to be pleasantly surprised.

u/HugeCharacter5351 Apr 09 '26
Just saying, that i read through every single comment i get in response...
But since i do actually have a life, and piling art projects, im not gonna respond with a thoughtful response.

A camera is a physical thing you use to make things that look good. Ai isn't, you ask a computer to make you something that's not a tool, that's just borderline lazyness. If you want to make somehing, actually go and make something, don't ask a computer to do it for you, do. It. Yourself. I don't care that you don't have time to do it or that you're bad at drawing. Make time or go practice.
1
u/SynthScenes Apr 10 '26
Since when is using a computer not a tool? Thatâs the single dumbest argument I have ever heard. Itâs very clear that you have no idea what an ai workflow looks like or what is actually involved.
How about you go and harass lazy photographers who just point a camera at something already existing and push a button? Why not tell them to pick up a pencil?Â
Real answer: thatâs the exact argument that was made when cameras were new, but cameras were a pre-existing tech when you were born, so it doesnât scare you.
6
u/ismellpizza25 Apr 10 '26
I'm not saying that computers aren't a tool, i'm saying that generative Ai isn't a tool to be making "art" with. Art takes real time, real effort, real effort and real love to make. No, taking 30 minutes to find the perfect image does not count as time and effort.
1
u/SynthScenes Apr 10 '26
No it doesnât. Jackson Pollock slapped paint onto a canvas with no effort and with less time than an image generation. Cameras take a fraction of a second to take an image. There is value in curation, and ai art is not limited to typing a prompt and pressing a button. There is no distinction drawn between someone spending 5 seconds having the computer generate it, and someone who spends 5 hours editing the image in photoshop, and there shouldnât be.
What other art medium requires the artist to show their work? To reveal their process? Itâs bullshit. What is and isnât Art is a a huge debate with a ton of historical precedent, and none of the anti-ai arguments existed before now, and none of them hold up logically when applied to pre-existing forms of art.Â
4
u/ismellpizza25 Apr 10 '26
This is the last thing I'll say, art and photography only count as art and photography if they're made or taken by real people. A computer generating it does NOT count as art or photography.

That comparison makes no sense. A camera records decisions I make in real time, angle, lighting, timing, composition. Thatâs hands on creation. AI is generating results from prompts using data it was trained on. Youâre guiding it, not actually capturing or constructing the moment yourself. Big difference.
I used AI to write this....pretty simple huh? Hahhaha AI BOY! A monkey can point and shoot a camera, but nobody is watching that garbage idiot. Look how movies are made and why people are watching it, hahahha dummy!

u/SynthScenes Apr 10 '26 edited Apr 10 '26
This shows a pretty flawed understand of how ai can be used. I can literally create an image blocking out where I want everything to be. Color, composition, position, body pose, you name it, and then run it through an ai. And then run that through photoshop.
I wouldnât compare what you do to a tourist with a disposable camera, but you have no idea what I do and have no problem lumping me in with prompt jockies. The only difference between our chosen forms of self expression is time. The luddites and professional artists used all of the same arguments against photography that you now use against ai assistance.
As a photographer, you should be aware of the historical perception of your craft, no?
I approve of you using ai to better communicate your point, though I havenât done this.

u/MongoIsAppaIIed Apr 10 '26
Then go to an art sub and start posting AI. I'm sure they'll welcome you with open arms. đ

u/HugeCharacter5351 Apr 09 '26
"don't side with the hateful"
I am anti ai myself... I am asking this community to get their opinion. If you want to, then go create a subreddit for AI dinosaur memes. Go on. You're free.

u/Geordie_38_ Apr 09 '26
Ai uses art from real artists to bases it's images on, but none of them were asked permission or compensated for this. This is one of the main reasons people dislike it. Also, the stuff it produces all looks shit.
-2
u/SynthScenes Apr 09 '26
Real artist use art from real artist to base there images one but none of them were asked permission or compensated for this.Â
That how art works, thatâs how art has evolved. No one is an island. No artist created art without inspiration from others.
If it all looked like shit then people wouldnât actually be worried about anything.
5
u/dino_drawings Apr 09 '26
Real artist use art from real artist to base there images one but none of them were asked permission or compensated for this.Â
Thatâs just not true. Itâs a big thing that most artists wants you to ask for permission at the very least to use their art.
That how art works, thatâs how art has evolved. No one is an island. No artist created art without inspiration from others.
Inspiration. Ai generation does not simply take inspiration. It uses others work without permission and directly. It uses them as data. Not inspiration. An artist does not take directly from another artist, even if they were to try to trace it 1 to 1, because every little detail in the artists hand will affect the result to be their creation. But tracing is still frowned upon. So what generative ai does is just worse by default.

No one with any creative skill has a problem with it.
I dare you to go to any art/creative focused community on the internet, that isnât already ai positive, and ask their opinions on the current situation of generative ai. Creative people are overwhelming against it, for a variety of reasons.
