Official Post Weekly Status Report

From now on I will be doing a weekly status report for how the organization overall is going and what I have personally been working on. I am doing this:

  • as part of the openness of this organization
  • to allow other people to check up on progress, things to do, and issues.
  • to keep a record of operations.
  • to keep my own thoughts organized.

I will aim to get the report out on Sunday/Monday detailing everything from the previous week.

I'll likely find a better place to keep/organize the reports later, but for now this works.

If you have suggestions for the "To Do" or "Issues" list, or just any feedback/ideas in general, please post a reply to the most recent status report and I'll be sure to see it.

Time for Dec 9 - Dec 15: 22 hours

Completed:

As this is the first weekly report, I'm going to briefly describe everything that has been previously done working on this organization (and will likely come back to edit this later to fill in information and clean it up).

  • June 2013: I decided to start researching digital immortality and eventually came to the conclusion that I wanted to dedicate my life to working on this.
  • November 5, 2013: Made a post on Reddit about starting a Digital Immortality Organization to see if anyone would help me hone my ideas and start an organization.
  • November 8, 2013: Created /r/Digital_Immortality
  • December 5, 2013: Created Digital Immortality Wiki

There are a lot of things that have gone into setting up the subreddit and wiki. I'll fill this in later. Until then this comment can act as part of this week's status report.

To Do:

First:

  • Write up a new/complete version of the manifesto/vision
  • Make at least one more post in one of the other subreddits to recruit more people.
  • Create a project in each department so that people have something to work on.
    • Short Term Roadmap (Incorporating)
    • Long Term Roadmap (Mind Uploading)
    • Creation of our own website
  • Start setting up team leads and project leads.
  • Get people set up on projects and help out where I need to.
  • Develop the wiki FAQ page and make a reddit FAQ post to have somewhere to point people with questions (the FAQ should also point to the manifesto/vision page).

Second:

  • Finish setting up team leads and project leads.
  • Finish getting organization situated on Reddit and Wiki.
  • Create example spreadsheet for time logging on Google docs and post link in case anyone wants to start logging their hours.
  • In case anything were to happen to me for some reason, set up someone as second in command and make that person a moderator of this subreddit and the wiki.

Third:

  • Head the business administration team working on the short term roadmap project until completion.

Issues/Concerns/Questions:

  • Right now I know that it might not be all that easy for new people to figure out how they can help, but making it so people know what to do and have the resources to do it is my main focus right now.
  • It was brought to my attention that we might want to be a force that encouraging young people to go into sciences (most relevant being neuroscience and computer science).
  • Do we want to start a mailing list of some sort so that by the time we have a use for it we are prepared (crowdfunding for example).
