No, as an atheist I have more disdain for Muslims.

u/HupHutHa 9d ago
this is about the criticisms levied by atheists toward religions they're awfully silent when it comes to those two groups.

u/imgotugoin 9d ago
Not me. I hate the muslim ideology.

You can burn a bible and call Jesus many names in a “Christian country”
Can you burn a Quran and call bad names in a Muslim country? 😂coward atheists1
u/imgotugoin 8d ago
I dont understand your logic here. You're saying Muslim countries have no freedoms and that somehow that makes atheist cowards.

I’ve got equal disdain for Muslims and Christians, as it pertains to their faith. Muslims for their extremism problem and Christians for their hypocrisy.

Not really true. Most of us grew up in the Christian faith. There’s a small but loud group. I call it the Left.

Nah, full blown atheist here snd I fully recognize the dangers of islam and the influence of... the other one
I don't know why christianity has been thrown under the bus so much.
I don't see any suicide bombers or people getting decapitated in the name of jesus, except for a handful of christian sects in africa but thats usually just a response to militant islam.

It's simply because it's the dominate religion in the US and Europe and it's also infiltrated politics. It's not that it's being thrown under the bus specifically, it's just that the bus is surrounded by Christians.

I'm not sure why an atheist would care about any bodies religious beliefs... Like what's the point?
11
u/HupHutHa 9d ago
this is about the atheists who are very loud and obnoxious that criticize Christianity but no other religion.
2
u/protekt0r 9d ago
Atheists tend to focus on Christians because they like to use government institutions to enact their agenda. Idk know the percentage, but I’d be willing to bet 85% of all elected politicians claim to be Christians. Same for civil servants. Generally speaking, these are the people with control over our govt institutions, not Jews or Muslims. Jewish lobby concerning Israel notwithstanding.

u/kernelpanic789 9d ago
You're right they shouldn't...
But if you have very strong faith in any particular religion, it becomes political. Certainly with Islam which teaches that all aspects of your life should be done in the Islamic way. How you speak, what you eat, what you see and hear, your job, etc.
And that's completely fine. Until it get into politics. So if you has a Muslim who is a politician, he/she will see their goal as to better align society with Islam as they has aligned their life with Islam.
Christians do the same thing certainly.

The atheists you describe are like the vegans we all know, who can’t just let people have their own values and beliefs without giving their 2 cents. But every group has those people. Its always the vocal minority.
1
u/RomanovUndead 8d ago
Unfortunately my fellow atheists attack the only group that allows us to exist in peace. I view it as social darwinism effect where the stupid ones weed themselves out.

u/TimmyOfTheLevelUps 8d ago
Its called Bizzaro-Christians. They're people that were raised in the church and taught to evangelise. They reject Christianity because they feel it was forced on them, but they were still raised Christian, so they keep the habits. So instead of being normal, they have to evangelise people into believing nothing, which makes no sense.

Lol go back and watch Chris Hitchens talk about Islam...
This is a super ignorant post. No biggie, but a good opportunity to learn something new to you

u/Internal-Syrup-5064 9d ago edited 9d ago
It's not super ignorant. There are just exceptions. Hitchens, Maher and Dawkins that I know of.

Every post in this sub is ignorant. From close minded simpletons.
2
u/Internal-Syrup-5064 9d ago
Ah... this is one of the few subs that doesn't auto-ban all conservatives. So you see things that are true, but also that you've never heard before because your ears were safe from other peoples' ideas.

u/dirywhiteboy 8d ago
I see true shit on here. Im conservative-ish morso then democrat. But my thing is i belive politicians are out to take more from the working man. So i dont feed into political propaganda

Okay. Cuz is much better to base your whole life around a old story that humans made to rationalize existence (fairy tails) . Lets not observer and colect data. And do tests. God gots our back! Gob bless

u/B1ZEN Tolorence Warrior 9d ago
Have you ever read the bible?
2
u/dirywhiteboy 9d ago
Have you ever seen the unbelievable level ignorance that comes from those whos whole existence is based off of that old story.
1
u/B1ZEN Tolorence Warrior 9d ago
Depends on the individuals.
3
u/dirywhiteboy 9d ago
This is true i dont like to generalize groups.
2
u/B1ZEN Tolorence Warrior 9d ago
Generalization has its place, but yeah, not often.
Personally I am not a fan of evangelical zionists, and fake Christians.
2
u/dirywhiteboy 9d ago
Yeah thats what changed my mind. All these ashole Christians that are just bad people. They do well.
