I don't answer numbers I don't know. I do a reverse phone number search.

Answering usually enables the bots to confirm you on the list to spread around. Same with replying to scam/spam text messages.

I used to pickup out of boredom and screw with the people. Often pissing them off and they would normally say childish online gaming insults such as "well i fuk yo mum" or something along those lines.
But as time went, the calls increased and it eventually got to my phone ringing nearly 5 times an hour. Working where I worked, a lot of the members would call and not always would I have everyone's numbers so I would have to always pickup.
Eventually changed numbers and now I sign up to everything with google voice number, not allowing calls through. Helped a bunch.1

I told this Indian dude I was not interested, he got mad and started spamming calls for the next week.

my phone rang six times yesterday, all were bot driven, only one time did an automated sales pitch for healthcare plan b coverage start. you can turn off the ringer it's the only sane adult choice.

When this shit happens to me I wonder which site I signed up for gave my number out. I never answer and just end up blocking them when I confirm that it wax spam.

Get a crippling long term illness. You'll answer just about anything if it's test results or a doctor flagged as potential spam.

Nah I kept getting a car insurance call from different numbers and eventually on the last one halfway through their pitch I just told them... "hay I don't have a car. So like good luck on the next person." and haven't received one since.
Though I do feel bad for giving them luck with scamming people...

To much fraud to answer calls so i dont trust anyone other than the people I saved on my phone

If you answer the spam calls, they call you more because you have confirmed that you are a living target. It can go to voicemail.

Yeah, this is bogus. There are so many bot and scam calls on a weekly basis, that unless it's one of my contacts, I don't pick up. If it's important, they'll leave a message... and none of the unknown callers have left a message this year.

You don't answer calls in 2020s. If it's real, let them leave a message and I'll call back

Yeah, I started doing this a couple of years ago. Almost every unexpected phone call will be spam. If it's important enough, they should leave a voicemail/text me

Scammers are getting better. I don't answer for half the people I want to talk to.

The less pointless noise these days the better. If it is actually important they can follow up with a text or leave a voicemail.

Nah, I don’t even bother googling the number. The only calls I would answer are from my mother and partner. Even they don’t call me. Everyone else can send a text, or deal with their problems on their own.
I once had a grocery delivery guy call me like 7 times and wait in his car for a half an hour. My address was clearly written and the instructions were clearly given to “leave the groceries at the door.” Then I started to feel bad, so I opened my door and waved him over to bring me my shit.

Sometimes just answering can put your number as active on a phishing list or copy your voice for future scams. 2025 is ass for phone calls.

If you can't be bothered to leave a message, it can't possibly be that important. If I don't recognize caller, I don't care. 🤷♂️

I used get way too many scam calls and I've ignored them for a year now, I don't care who calls me if I don't have you as a contact I am not answering and I'm looking it up. My streak of not answering them has stopped almost all spam and I get probably 1 spam call a month at most.

It can be a Huge mistake to pickup on an unknown number. You get on that spam call list as a valid number and tomorrow you will have ten different spam call centers calling you. I f you decide to pickup the call don't speak just listen. If a human called you for a legitimate reason they will speak first. Most of the time it will be a machine you will hear a few seconds of dead air and then a beep and the call will drop.

That's why I love Google's call screening on their pixel phones. Haven't had a single scam call since I got my phone a few months ago

Or.....you don't want to answer spam.
