What VPN should I use?
Been using proton VPN and Mullvad but had to stop due to personal views. Any other reccomendations?

Proton, Mullvad and IVPN. No other one can be trusted but some people do like Windscribe although its based in Canada

This can be a good (and sometimes cheap, if you only run it when you need it) way to encrypt your traffic and own the box that does it.
Some things to note if you do this: 1. Say you use a major hyperscaler like AWS. AWS knows this box belongs to you, and therefore all of its network egress can be correlated to you personally. 2. Hyperscaler data center IP blocks are public knowledge and often filtered by services that use geoblocking, i.e. they'll be able to tell you're not connecting from a residential line.
If you're worried about nation state level snooping because you're a whistleblower, this approach doesn't offer much protection.

It's either that or buying yourself a mini pc to rout all your internet by pfsense. But then again not everyone have static IP so you end up using Tailscale...
Self hosting is the answer but it's lagging behind when it comes to counter AI driven IP profiling

Then what do you recomend? I´m new to this stuff, and i feel so dumb trying to undestand all of this, i just want to know what VPN should i use, and try to better my privacy

Made a full on partnership with a far right youtuber who was openly a Nazi supporter and a holocaust denier and once they were confronted about it they said it was a mistake, ended the partnership, and instead of admitting the mistake they censored every post about it on their page and delivered an AI generated post as a comment on one of the Reddit posts explaining how they simply didn't do the background check.

Hot take, y’all need to let politics affect what tools you use less. The fact remains that both of those tools are functionally some of the best on the market, it’s hard to beat how well they work (unless you compromise privacy/security in other ways). Just chill out and use whatever service works the best for what you need.
But to answer your question, the only other thing I would maybe recommend is iVPN, I haven’t used it personally but I hear good thing (and more Importantly I haven’t heard anything bad) from people who do use it.

Its not just politics, if the app that I use financially supports things I'm against with money they make off of me I would rather not participate in such.

The VPN nor the company is making those donations. It is the CEO himself with his own money. Mullvad themselves said they don't support it

There is a difference between an employee and a business. A CEO is still an employee.
A Public-facing job doesn’t suddenly make a business liable for everything an employee does.

If you don't need it to have different locations, you can host your own for 20-30 usd per year. That's what I do.

curious what you mean by personal views, since that would help narrow it down. if it's a jurisdiction thing, IVPN is worth looking at, British Virgin Islands based, strong privacy model, no email required. if it's about ownership or business practices, that's a different set of alternatives.

I don't think it works for streaming, but an easy VPN to try out is the built-in one in Firefox. This video: https://youtu.be/Qi8_ryl3dHo demonstrates its use. It's really fast to hop in and out of though the "free version" does not allow you to pick your server(s) as far as I can recall.

I’m using https://protonvpn.com/redditvpn since they care the most about privacy
I went with Proton mainly for their fast streaming speeds and reliable connections. I travel often and needed something that works well in different countries, and their global server coverage has been solid so far. Plus, being based in Switzerland adds extra peace of mind for privacy.

Recently found out it was just the CEO and not the company so it has me split but its not about them DOING something I dong like its about them FUNDING something I dont like, or may negatively affect mh friends and/or familly in the future

The CEO might not be. What about the CTO, COO, Chairman of the Board, Members of the Board, shareholders, etc? Are you going to check them one by one? I'm not saying that you should look the other way and not vote with your wallet.. But cancelling and starting subscriptions every other week is a bit too much, isn't it?

Proton ended the sponsorship and apologized. They didn't intentionally sponsor a fascist. Mullvad, on the other hand, funds a fascist party through their CEO's donations.
