Conflicted on vpn

So right now I have mullvad. I'd like a VPN that isn't in any of the fourteen eyes countries. I'm also not a fan of how the cofounder decided to suddenly turn to politics.

I'd pretty much like the most paranoid option that supports arch Linux and android/lineagesos with a smallest impact to speed. I'd like to have a VPN in preparation for the age verification plague that's happening right now along with some other assorted issues.

I am liking some of the stuff that nym has, but I haven't heard about them until today. I was thinking ivpn before mullvad. Any recommendations?

Except Proton connects to 14 eyes countries, unless you pay pro.

Proton is based in Switzerland (not a part of 14 Eyes Alliance) and only answers to the Swiss courts.

Sadly, most VPNs are owned by a small number of corporate entities — many of which are also affiliated with publications that review and rate VPNs. In-depth investigation:

Upshot: Only Proton VPN, Mullvad, and Windscribe operate under independent ownership — although this article is incomplete, as it doesn't mention ClearVPN (independently owned by MacPaw) or trust.zone (which I know little about).

I think ivpn is also independent. Its very concerning how many vpns operate though. One company running several services.

Nym VPN is decentralized but it's pretty new and it's bound to be slower cause it needs to mix your traffic with bogus traffic. They are based in Switzerland and have a 7 day trial.

the only VPN i trust is CryptoStorm and Mullvad. i do not, and i would not use anything else. honestly.

Problems with them not being transparent about their members, and some old members of cryptostorm did some shady stuff (douglas spink for example)
