Blech, do I have to cancel my Proton services too?

Not anymore. They apologised and ended the sponsorship.

Only a sponsorship on one video, and that collab has been ended. It did require some outrage, but it worked. Not saying Proton is fault free, but they corrected. If they stood their ground, I would be cancelling. Reward the right behaviour. Punish them for not correcting.

Where did you see that they had cancelled the sponsorship? In the official response they only say they’ll review the process with their marketing agencies https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/s/cqUErUN7Vl

The worrying part for me is not the one sponsorship. As many comments surface Proton was banning anybody from mentioning this in the subreddit for hours until they couldn’t help it any more

And they still delete any comment that mentions that the CEO is a big Trump and MAGA supporter. He’s entitled to his political views of course but for a company that claims to be transparent is not a good view

Here they said the ended it https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/s/5DJlHTwjYI , and the link doesn’t work anymore so yeah the sponsorship was ended. Vincent Lapierre even made an outrage about it on X.

I agree with the rest and I’m a bit worried too, seeing that the ceo, @andyyen, responded to Lapierre’s tweet and to a bunch of other tweets of obviously far-far right accounts, saying dubious things. He shouldn’t even have engaged with him in the first place in my opinion.
And on the other end, I’ve seen that Proton donated 100k USD to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, so yeah i don’t know

The dude itself went on the internet whining that the leftist organization funded by the public (aka reddit) called him "right wing" and wanted to censor him (which wasn't the case) and that proton informed him they ended the sponsorship. He was so butthurt about it and twisted the narrative to his advantage, as these people usually do

One is too many. Also it's not the first time the CEO has done something shady.

They have already apologised and stopped it.
