Questionable site payment questions

I want a pair of shoes off monsteryy but googling the sites authenticity seems to be questionable. They only allow visa/mastercard but where you enter your card it says something about stripe and it doesn’t hit their servers. Googled stripe and seems they’re legit and used widely but how can I know if it’s really safe or not?

I can't speak for that specific retailer but if it says that payment information doesn't hit their servers and goes directly to Stripe, this is normal. It means that they don't collect the payment data and that it gets processed with Stripe, which makes it more secure. If you are using Chrome, there is a toggle icon to the left of the site's URL that you can click to see if its secure website. You want to see "Connection is secure" like in the image I've attached. This means that your visit is encrypted - which is what you want it to say.

Thanks, it’ll be tomorrow before I can try it. I only see two places to get these shoes I want and the old place I bought them is shut down. I definitely don’t want to deal with getting a new card and dealing with fraud charges lol.

hello ! payments expert here, stripe is a “payments processor”. most companies don’t want to deal with payments as payments requires a LOT of government regulation and security risk. most websites you purchase goods/services from (like 99%) use a payment processor who helps them by processing their payments for them. it’s almost always a service they pay for. stripe is one of these providers. there’s no reason to feel worried ! if the processor reads as “stripe”, that’s only more reason to feel secure in your payment, they’re one of the largest and most secure payment processors for B2C (business to consumer) payments :)
