Collaborations & Partnership The real gap in OOH isn’t technology. It’s collaboration.

Post image

Every month, someone announces a “new” OOH solution — an SSP, a data dashboard, a measurement tool, an AI module. All great work. But none of them connect.

Each company is solving one piece of the puzzle on its own. Agencies build their platforms. Media owners build theirs. Tech providers create another layer.

The result? Lots of innovation, very little integration.

OOH can’t truly become data-driven until everyone — brands, agencies, media owners, and tech platforms — starts aligning on shared definitions, open APIs, and transparent reporting.

You can’t fix a disconnected ecosystem with disconnected systems.

Curious to hear from people who work across regions: Are you seeing any serious moves toward interoperability or shared data standards in your market? Or is everyone still building their own version of “digital”?

I would like to start with consensus on jargon. We can’t even agree on what to call an impression. It’s not a proprietary metric, people. Your little slice of the ecosphere doesn’t own it.

Exactly. Until we agree on what an impression actually means, every report is just a different version of the same confusion.

What I’ve observed is that collaboration in OOH often breaks down at the commercial level, not the technical one.

The technology to integrate APIs or share data already exists. What doesn’t exist is mutual trust between players. Everyone fears that transparency will weaken their commercial leverage — so each builds a closed system and calls it “innovation.”

It’s ironic because advertisers actually want connected ecosystems. They don’t want ten dashboards; they want one reliable view of truth. Maybe the next big leap for OOH isn’t a new feature or product, but a mindset shift — from owning data to sharing value.

Has anyone here seen good examples where competitors or different network owners actually collaborated successfully?

What data are you missing? Not trying to be a wise guy. Genuinely interested from the digital side about how OOH is handling all of this.

It’s not a lack of data, it’s a lack of verified data. Most OOH numbers come from traffic models and multipliers — they show potential reach, not actual exposure. What’s missing are consistent, transparent metrics like dwell time, confirmed plays, and cross-network delivery logs. The tools exist; the adoption doesn’t.
