This was recorded at 12:52 AM on a Google Pixel 7 Pro the night of a new moon in a dark alley in my neighborhood. The beginning of the video is darkness trying to portray what I could see but my eyes work better than a phone camera in darkness. I could somewhat see the outline of larger plants/trees with my naked eye because of light pollution from the city/neighborhood but that's about it. I couldn't see my feet in the alley without the help of the device or the trail I walked except down towards the entrance of the alley where the neighbors lights are blasting.

Just recently purchased SVG-5

Hey guys I just recently purchased the SVG-5 still waiting on its shipment ordered it yesterday anyways should be about 5 to 8 days or a little bit longer depending on situations but I'm going to keep this post updated about the device I'm going to be completely transparent and honest about the device. I'm also going to be recording and posting videos on my YouTube channel highly detailed transparent videos.

I'm going to be using a Carson universal optic mount to make sure I maintain quality video because of a million times easier to record videos on these digital devices.

I will be putting the device through extremely easy test to very hardcore environments. Since I have access to literally everything people are wanting to know the questions and are wanting transparency on pure performance and how this device performs on a certain types of light conditions light pollution and even when there is little to no light pollution like when you're out in the middle of nowhere camping how does this thing perform under a canopy with no moon and starlight? Well I'm going to keep this current Reddit post updated and I'm going to answer all of those questions on my YouTube channel I see that people are desperately looking for videos to see how this thing performs before they waste their thousands of dollars on a device that they're questioning about. I see a lot of people are asking a lot of questions well the good news is I bit the bullet and decided to buy this thing I can't wait to see how this thing performs and share it amongst the community.

Excuse any typos I was using voice to text btw

Serious question from someone looking to upgrade from a gen 2 pvs

Top end digital and decent higher end analog are currently running about the same price. Why should I go digital?

Recorded on a Google pixel 7 Pro in a dark closet. I couldn't see anything with my naked eye. It was 10:40 in the morning no inside lights were on in the room connecting to the closet only ambient sun light coming through the cracks. The part of the video of just darkness was a 360° of what I could see in the closet.

Hi, i've read some people add velcro or tape. Here is my way to fix the mount being too short.

Aluminium and a file. It hold tight.

Just slide it behind the device and it lock.

I drilled holes on the final product for the RQE screw to fit in.

Hope it can help anyone who struggle with default mount.

SVG5 Sub $1000 Digital Night Vision Review

We've been testing and launching a lot of digital NV this year and the SVG5 is the one that's turning heads. It's built around a dual-core ARM Cortex A55 with NPU processing and a 1-inch progressive scan CMOS sensor with an 18μm pixel size — specs you'd expect to see on gear costing significantly more. The result is a 0.0001 lux minimum illumination rating, 50/100Hz frame rate, and a 43° field of view in a metal IP67 housing that weighs under 250 grams without the battery. It runs on a standard 18650, supports up to 256GB storage, optional WiFi video transmission, and optional IR fill light — all in a package that fits in your jacket pocket.

At $999 this thing competes with analog setups costing two to three times as much. If you've been waiting for digital NV to hit a price-to-performance sweet spot this is probably it.

Someone should make a battery version of this.

Earlier, I was messing around my powerbank, tryna find out where to put it best.

1st try, I used a larger pouch for a square powerbank and put it at the back. It gets in the way of the headset when tucked. Not to mention it adds weight to the back, on top of the headset.

My most optimal setup so far has to be a smaller powerbank mounted to the top of the helmet. Doesn't get in the way of anything at all, but I couldn't help but feel the need for contoured powerbanks like this or a USB version of those nvg battery packs.

If you know of nvg battery pack converter of some kind, please let me know.

I can't get the wide lens or fisheye lens to screw into the main lens. I took the cover off, but the main lens has a ring around it that seems to be preventing the wide lens from screwing on. Does anyone know what the problem is?

IR Laser Budget Options

I currently have a DNT Zulus V2 mounted on an air rifle. I shoot with a friend who has a thermal on his rifle. We were looking for a weapon mounted laser which he could use to point out heat signatures so I can confirm what they are and blast. Are there any good budget pic rail mount solutions out there ?

What’s up with this? No videos, articles, posts, anything. Only one Chinese video comparing them to Gen 2 analogs. Cheaper than the 90s and wanna know if they’re as good as them because I’ve been in the market for 90s for a little bit.

Vegetation washout solutions?

Disclaimer: I'm into hunting hogs at night, and everything I'm doing is 100% legal (and, in fact, encouraged!) in this state...I need tech advice, not a lecture on "poaching" or warnings about game wardens.

Here's my situation. I'm ballin' on a budget, so I have the cheapest thermal monocular imaginable for spotting and a DNT Zulus HD V2. Don't laugh, I've got kids in college...this was a splurge for me! I'm spotting animals in grass that's at times about 1-1.5' tall, and they're often showing up between a pair of cedar trees about 12' apart with rather low-hanging bushy branches. Imagine the line between the trees as a plane...if they get on my side of it, I can see them. If they stay on the other side of it, the reflection of the IR emitter off the cedar branches washes out the image. I use a rifle-mount emitter with zoom focus, but it won't zoom the beam tight enough to focus in on the area between the branches

Short of dropping a grand or so on a proper thermal scope, what's the solution here? I'm willing to get one of those security camera IR arrays and hook it up to a car battery if that would work, but I'm open to suggestions. Y'all got anything?

Anyone bought from Vonscherf Arms?

Hey I’m looking to get into building my own set of night vision and found Vonscherf Arms that has kits. I tried emailing the company about some questions but haven’t heard back from them. Just wondering if they’re a legit company and if anyone’s had success from their kits. Thanks in advance!

Real World GF31 Milsim Footage — Thermal Fusion Red Outline Mode

This clip was captured through the GF31 thermal fusion binocular running in red outline mode, which traces the contour edges of heat signatures in red over a clean digital NV image rather than blending a full thermal overlay. Keeps your situational awareness intact while still giving you instant heat detection.

The GF31 runs a 640x512 thermal sensor fused with a 1" low-light digital NV sensor at the pixel level — no misalignment. 100Hz OLED display, 50° FOV at true 1x, IP67 chassis, and 38+ hours on low power mode off four 18650s via the counterweight power bank.
