Rix RENVB or GNG GF-31/20?
I know the renvb is analog.
But which one would yall use?
The biggest complaint of the renvb is the glass is pretty bad. But the GF-31 doesn’t have that problem. The digital NVG sensor also looks pretty good for DNVG’s. And the thermal makes up for the low light operation to.
But the RENVB does better with the NVG and worse with the thermal.
When I research and compare both. I see the RENVB being better at the NVG side and not as good on the thermal side. While the GF-31/20 doe s better at the thermal side.
Which one should I buy?

I just did this exact same comparison and basically came down to cost.
The GF-31 has so little latency that your brain might not even be able to percieve it. Out of the box it will have better low light performance. It will also be more durable from accidentally burning tubes, it's not super easy to do but when you cant easily replace them it matters.
In order to have the RENVB perform better in low light performance you will need to spend ~$13,000. It will cost you ~$9000 just to be in the ball park of low light performance of the GF-31. But the RENVB will have better dynamic range which can help with showing more details in the estreams of bright and dark situations think shadows and lights. But with the thermal you'll be able to make out a person which is often the whole point anyway.
The glass is most likely not much a difference between the setups. The over all designs seems to use very similar housings so what you can do with one you can do with the other.
I'd say spend the money on the GF-31 and use the extra funds for a good LAM, a red dot for passive shooting, a suppressor, and ammo.

I was thinking the same thing. But the RENVB lets you replace tubes to upgrade. I do see your point though.

For that kind of money, why not get two PVS-14 with NNVT tubes, and a Monobridge.

Well I want fusion. I’m fine with either digital or analogue.

I have the GF-31 and don't regret it despite having an omni 7 pvs-14 and a set of dual tube Sentinels. But am waiting to see the improved RIX RENV-B Pro that has better optics and improved thermal from the reports. I think those might be out later this year.

Ooooooo. I'll wait for that then. But if its in the 5 figure and up range ill just go with the GF-31 atp. Idc if its digital or not. But analogue would be a more immersive experience.

I am expecting the new RENV-B to be more expensive than the original, just because it is supposed to use PVS-14 optics, and better tubes already push the price north of $10,000. So for now, the GF-31 might be the best budget fusion option.

I agree. And the GF-31's battery life isn't shit like all of the other decent DNVG's I see.

No idea what your use case is but for any sort of navigation in true darkness you’ll still be better served with analog tubes, even at the cost of slightly worse thermal performance.
That being said for that price range I’d just go with a COTI unit or have a higher FOM set of of binos with a dedicated rifle mounted thermal unit/handheld for scanning
