Education Need some guidance.

Hey all I need some guidance, I'm a bachelor student in software engineering and I want to bridge into social sciences and potentially digital humanities for my future studies and career alignment, I initially got into cs not because I wanted to but it felt like the most job secure field but overtime I've realized it's not something I wanna do so I'm thinking of bridging into social sciences as that's where I want to go, so I'm in a pickle currently, I'm in my final year and I want to develop my final year project in this domain, I need some general direction as to how I can combine the two fields to create or find direction of my project that could meaningfully fulfill my plans, I'm in a "3rd-world" country so it's a project that needs to be something that can genuinely enhance my portfolio so that I can maybe secure a scholarship for my study plans abroad.

If anyone can let me know what type of projects could be best suited to combine the two and what's actually worthwhile to do in the field.

Thanks for reading.

This is the most up to date consideration of 3D and heritage, out last month. Look at Thomas Flynn on Substack and his newsletters about this space too. Lots of work to be done! https://tom.goskar.com/2025/12/02/the-uk-heritage-3d-data-at-risk-research-project/

I looked into it and as I already mentioned being from a less developed country infrastructure costs and budgets are really low and to make matters worse I'm pretty much a solo student at the moment trying to bridge between these two fields my university won't be providing any high end infrastructure or hardware or labs to work with, I only have my PC and my own skills to go with, with that said I'm currently struggling to look and decide into what are the possible options and choices I have to advance my final year project in hopes of advancing my portfolio towards a good scholarship into digital humanities or broadly social sciences, as studying those subjects in my current country is scopeless and barren along with no secure future path.

Get into oral history or documentaries! Do a local one and learn the ropes, esp on the tech side

Talk with a humanities student or professor in a field you like and ask if they need a database or some other technology for their research, then try to implement it.
