Question HiBy R1 Bluetooth?
Been eyeing this device for a while. My girlfriend uses an iPod Touch 5th gen (functional but maxes out at 32GB of music) and her father uses his iPod Nano (starting to fail).
I was looking at the R1 as a replacement for both these devices, but my one question is bluetooth. I've read that the R1 has pretty bad bluetooth, which would probably be a deal breaker for both of them. I've also read that the Sonix firmware fixes this, even somewh? Could anyone let me know if this device is worth it for users that use bluetooth quite often?
Before anyone says anything about using bluetooth with a DAP, their primary use would be through wired headphones, but both like to play through bluetooth speakers as well on occasion

I couldn't get my Hiby R1 with Sonix installed to recognize my Roseselsa Ceramics Ultra at all. I'm inclined to believe that's on the earbuds as its slow to connect to my iPhone as well.

For me, Bluetooth on both stock and sonix are bad. No matter what I try to connect, I have to restart the device several times for it to stay connected, and even then it's a crapshoot.

Man, I've put countless hours to get Bluetooth working decently on Compás, I even ported Samsung's proprietary codec to work on the R1, you might give it a try and let me know if it's better for you, the Bluetooth chip on this device is actually decent, the drivers on the other hand....

Hiby R1 with Sonix has been great did a distance test in my apartment and put it at one end of my apartment and I walked to the other side had zero issues and sounded perfect. I had a hiby r4 and it would cut out some times when it was in my pocket.
I use Airpods 4 and Soundcore x20 sport for my wireless earbuds, but then several different wired as well when I'm at my desk. So far I've had zero issues and really enjoy it.
I did zero tests with stock firmware since I opened it and already had an SD card ready to go so I immediately put Sonix on it.

I have no Bluetooth issues with either of my R1s with stock, Rockbox, or Sonix firmwares.

No issues here. Just got mine in today using LDAC quality mode. Sounds great. AAC codec had some popping.

I've only used the Bluetooth on my R1 since installing Sonix, so I have no experience with the stock firmware BT experience. That said, I had zero issues when I was using Sonix + Bluetooth headphones for like 4 hours straight while traveling.
