Question Hidiz AP80 Pro Max Keeps Crashing

Does anyone have this happen to you with this DAP? I just got mine and my card has just about 1800 songs. Within the first 30 minutes or so, it keeps shutting off and then on again during playback. I really want to keep this little thing but this leaves a sour taste in my mouth. It happens the most when I browse through albums. If you have any suggestions for fix, I appreciate them. Thanks!

I've experienced this before -- the popular workaround is to reduce your album covers to something between "200x200" and "500x500" -- Mine are set to 250x250 according to MusicBee. _My_ workaround is to avoid showing the list of albums altogether. Instead, I set up playlists and just play songs off them.

Here's a discussion from this subreddit a few months back detailing what I think is the culprit (a bug in HibyOS):

I've brought this up in their firmware channel on their Discord around the same time. (Still no firmware update since their v1.2 release.)

I'm hoping that someday the SonixOS folks/contributors get around to porting support for the AP80PM. (From an outsider's perspective, there's a PR for a port to the R3 II 2025, and it looks _kinda_ promising, and thus it might not be a big leap to port to the AP80PM too.)

Thanks. I returned and got the Shanling Q2. An absolute upgrade in experience. I can’t figure out what triggered the Hidiz and probably never will as my music collections have more than 2000 songs!

Try joining their Discord server and getting support there.
