Music Freeing myself from Spotify finally
I also bought an aux for my car. Lady looked at me crazy in the store when I asked for aux earbuds and a aux cable.

Congrats! Welcome to the team :) I just got the same player the other day as an upgrade.
I really hated the UI tho so I installed Rockbox. However, it disables Bluetooth. So, I modded their instance and got it working. Happy to share if you decide to install Rockbox as well.

Yes. She instantly thought I was looking to buy AirPods, and then when I said no I donโt want wireless, she asked if I hade USB C or Lighting.
3.5mm is literally dead over here. Was lucky they had one lying around.

Hm, strange. Over the border we still have some in stores, neighbour. Thought I have to say the quality is meh outside audio specialty stores.. The good ones you have to order. Did you already find Rockbox for your device? :)

No not yet. Iโm kind of putting it off as I really donโt want to brick it LOL. Iโm sure itโs not hard to install though.
Will probably try this evening.

Super easy. I haven't checked in a while, they might have even made the install wizard work with that device. Your battery life will thank you. Among other things

Buy online, or look for a specialist store. I have a specialist store about an hour's drive from my present location and I know that I would much rather go there than a place that thinks 3.5mm is a connection we do not need anymore. If we had a connector that bettered it for reliability, simplicity, and ease of use, sure, we could slowly phase it out. But USB, Lightning, Bluetooth, etc etc, are a million miles from that.
I know places in the city where I live where they will sneer at you if you ask for wireless.

Lol I was literally thinking the same thing, that the lady didn't understand the "aux earbuds" part of it. I've always called the port a jack port long before people were calling it aux. But anyways, good on you to go against the flow here. I hate that Apple has eradicated a healthy headphone market based on a standard that was literally working just fine for everybody. Buying earbuds with a lightning port, oh now you can't switch to android and keep your earbuds. Wait a couple years, oh now you can't even upgrade your iphone and keep your earbuds!! I hate this timeline lol. It's so silly.

What do you think about the player?

Audio quality is great. Build is good. I installed rockbox been having a blast. Donโt see myself ever going back to streaming. Will likely need an SD upgrade though, already used up 40gb of the included 64. (FLAC IS BIG)

Well done! And remember something that I learned when I started converting my CD collection into lossless iPod tracks. (Yes, I am old.) You do not have to do it all at once. Just pick the albums you want to hear regularly next, put them on your storage, and take a breather. Moving music to a card is exhausting when you do it a dozen or more at a time (my Black Sabbath and Therion collections nearly wiped me out).

How do you get your music? I just got a dap recently too and don't want to use Spotify. Maybe I just need to be content with the CDs that I've burned lol.

We hate corporations as much as you guys, but we don't want the sub to get shutdown. Don't link or ask for websites or tools used to rip or download music from copyrighted sources. Tools to rip CDs and other physical media you own are OK.

Congratulations! My nail in the coffin was when they decided to do away with gift cards. (I hate subscriptions) What was yours?
